Are you trailblazer in digitalization and digital twins? Are you thrilled to know how digitalization can help in improving sustainability and circularity? This is your opportunity to join us and lead an innovation action with the EU Horizon project ACCURATE
We're looking for highly motivated candidates for a full-time postdoc position. The position is for 18 months with potential extension. The position is available from August 1st 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Project description
The ACCURATE project aims to boost the competitiveness of European manufacturing companies and value chains by improving their sustainability, performance stability, resilience, and ability to manage unforeseen events. It will develop innovative approaches and deliver an integrated Decision Support System, as a multi-scale and multi-level Digital Twins platform, offering a better understanding of the impact of unforeseen events on manufacturing, providing timely, optimal and robust manufacturing supply and value chains design, planning, reconfiguration and recovery, and improving their circularity and sustainability performances.

Job description
The primary task of the Postdoc researcher is to develop and co-create a novel co-simulation framework to integrate production models (e.g., DES-based production models, LCA models, data-driven product quality models) and services (e.g., optimization algorithms, control, uncertainty quantification, etc). This framework will be a digital twin platform proof of concept to demonstrate on different use cases.

The mission includes:

  • Develop a backbone architecture for the DT platform using the DTaaS setup.
  • Integration and instantiation of different models and services (models and service algorithms are provided by the project stakeholders),
  • Design of automated instantiation mechanisms to the platform services (co-simulation, monitoring, analysis, optimization, assessment under statistical uncertainties, …).
  • Configuration and assistance to the platform utilization and demos for end-users.

Your profile
Applicants should hold a PhD in Computer Science/Engineering or a related subject. Furthermore, the applicants must have experience/background with the following topics:

  • Modeling and model-based engineering
  • Simulation, co-simulation and models integration
  • Software development
  • Knowledge of digital twins is an asset

About us
The postdoctoral researcher will be part of a larger interdsiciplinary research team between ECE (Computer Engineering) and MPE (Mechanical Engineering) Departments working on the ACCURATE project, and will have the chance to supervise PhDs.

Place of work
The postdoctoral researcher will be sitting within the Software Engineering and Computing Systems SECS group,  Helsingforsgade 10, 8200 Aarhus N.

Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Letter of reference
If you want a referee to upload a letter of reference on your behalf, please state the referee’s contact information when you submit your application. We strongly recommend that you make an agreement with the person in question before you enter the referee’s contact information, and that you ensure that the referee has enough time to write the letter of reference before the application deadline.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to ensure that letters of reference received after the application deadline will be taken into consideration.
