For our Grid Compliance Testing team, we are looking for a skilled Grid Connection Engineer. The team is part of the Grid Connection department which have colleagues working all over the world, with the main presence in Denmark, Germany, Spain, and India. The department consists of six teams and have full ownership of all grid connection aspects for newly developed wind turbines. The main responsibilities include development and validation of client user models as well as testing and certification of grid compliance aspects. The Grid Compliance Testing team is located in Brande with secondary locations in Lyngby, Copenhagen and Hamburg, Germany.

How to contribute to our vision:
The grid compliance testing team is responsible for testing of all Grid Compliance related aspects, mainly on newly developed products. The testing is both executed on prototype testing sites, where the full turbine is tested, and in test rigs where sub-systems or components are assessed. The team is not only testing at these high-performance facilities but are also supporting the development and integration of future applications. The team is furthermore involved in the assessments and interpretation of relevant grid codes and grid connection standards as well as internal and external technology development projects. Quality and delivery as promised are key performance elements in the daily work to ensure best-in-class grid compliance capabilities of the wind turbines for our customers.
As a Grid Connection Engineer, you will be involved in various activities depending on your qualifications. The activities could include:

  • Being responsible for planning, specification and execution of measurements on wind turbines, sub-systems and components and activities derived from this.

  • Analyzing, evaluating and reporting of respective test results.

  • Defining test plans for new wind turbine, sub-system and component measurement campaigns based on grid code knowledge.

  • Coordination, evaluation and assessment of relevant grid code requirements and grid connection standards

  • Be responsible for support of grid connection aspects as grid codes, WT capabilities, features and parameters

  • Development and optimization of test rig automation system and user interface (HMI)

  • Programming and integration of features in high-performance test rigs

There will be at least 30 travel days a year to various test sites and SGRE offices.

What you need to make a difference:
Passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change. We are also looking for…A candidate with a Bachelor’s, Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or similar combined with some experience in the area of grid compliance of wind turbines and wind power plants, automation or electrical equipment. You have knowledge in the following areas: power systems, wind turbines/wind power plants, grid connection requirements or test facilities and automation. It would be a benefit if you have experience with different network technologies and fieldbuses, real-time applications, programming (PLC, C,C++), and Beckhoff’s PC-based control technology including TwinCAT 3 software.
As a person, you are outgoing, result oriented, structured, and a dedicated team player, who is able to work in an international and multi-cultural environment and can handle interfaces with numerous internal and external stakeholders. Lastly, you possess good communication skills and excellent English skills both orally and in writing. It is also considered an advantage if you speak Danish.
