Biosyntia: a thriving biotech startup
Founded in 2012 and located in Copenhagen, Denmark, Biosyntia is a thriving biotech startup dedicated to delivering sustainable fermentation processes for natural ingredients. Using proprietary technologies based on bioengineering and synthetic biology, we accelerate the development of microbial cell factories to a level previously unattainable.

We currently have 2 projects available for which we seek 2 highly motivated students. The projects will explore new avenues for synthetic biology in metabolic engineering and cell factory design and construction and are well suited for a 6-12 months full-time student project as part of e.g. a master’s in biotechnology.

Prerequisites
B.Sc. in molecular biology / biotechnology / biochemistry / Informatics or equivalent. Independent laboratory experience is expected for wet lab projects.

Project period

  • We will aim for start dates in fall of 2019 or early 2020.
  • The projects are expected to be full-time and end 6 to 12 months later depending on the student’s preferences.

Types of work

  • Metabolic engineering and data analysis
  • Fermentation technology

As a student, you will be fully integrated into our team of scientists and become responsible for your own sub-project. You will learn everything from project design and scope to project execution in the lab and analysis and interpretation of data. Techniques will include bacterial molecular biology, gene synthesis, molecular cloning, multiplex genome engineering, high-throughput screening, analysis of data, bioinformatics and development of fed-batch fermentation processes.

Place of work
Will be at our research facilities at Fruebjergvej 3 at Østerbro in Copenhagen. You will be working together with ~20 other highly enthusiastic scientists (students, Ph.D.’s and postdocs) in a young and dynamic environment with a lot of fun and social activities.

Terms and conditions
You will be assigned a supervisor at Biosyntia and a supervisor at a university. Students who relocate to Denmark specifically to for the project will be eligible for a 1.000 EUR/month mobility payment from Biosyntia. Students residing in Denmark are not eligible for such payment.

How to apply:
