The Copenhagen Pregnancy Loss project (COPL) is hiring a data science student helper for 10 hours per week to join the data science team. The data science team is responsible for analytical pipelines, data management, and model development and statistical analysis.

The COPL project was initiated in 2019, following an 18 million DKK grant from the BioInnovation Institute, and in 2023 a 25 million DKK grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation. The goal is to understand causes of pregnancy loss through integration of clinical data and multi-omics data (whole-genome sequencing, metagenomics, proteomics, and metabolomics), and develop new AI models that can assist clinicians in decision making.

As a part of the data science team, you will assist with data management tasks and help develop computational pipelines and analytical models. Specifically, there will be a strong focus on quality control of data, automation of reporting of samples with ad hoc analyses. All work will be done in close collaboration with clinical researchers from the department.

You will be part of a growing environment, in which doctors, biologists, and data scientists openly discuss issues and solutions to advance precision medicine within the area of gynaecology, obstetrics, and women’s health.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate,

  • Is a student in a relevant BSc or MSc program (such as, but not limited to, bioinformatics, computational biology, medicine, or computer science). Preferably you have more than one year until you finish your studies
  • Has proficiency in Python or R
  • Has professional proficiency in English

Preferred, but not essential,

  • Knowledge of basic concepts on statistical analysis and/or machine learning
  • Knowledge of the workflow management system snakemake
  • Experience with git version control

We expect you to work 10 hours per week, split across two days. The position is flexible and can be planned around your studies. At least 1-2 days per week must be spent on-site. The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with relevant union. The position is limited for a one-year period but can be extended.
