DTU Wind and Energy Systems invites applicants for a position as Senior Research or Tenure Track Researcher in Energy Storage System to strengthen our competences in the field.

Responsibilities and qualifications
Your overall focus will be to strengthen the department’s competences within modeling, optimization and system integration of new energy storage system (EES) technologies. In this position you will contribute to research in modelling of energy storage systems and their system integration, and in particular battery energy storage integration and hybridization with electrolyzer systems. You will also be able to contribute to our related research within electrolyzer plants. Further, you will contribute to teaching, attracting funding as well as project management of an increasing portfolio of ESS projects. You will work closely with colleagues in a fast-developing team, that is involved in many ESS and hydrogen/Power-to-X research activities and with close relations to leading industrial actors.
Your responsibilities will be to:
- Conduct research in energy storage systems, its system integration and hybridization with electrolyzers and other technologies
- Managing ESS-related projects in collaboration with industry and academic
- Contribute to modelling, control, testing and system integration of EES
- Supervise BSc, MSc and PhD students and contribute to courses and other educational
activities - Attract funding for your research with support from the department
- Build collaborations with academics within and outside DTU, and with private and public sector experts
You will be part of our Section for Power-to-X and Storage in the Division for Power and Energy Systems. The section is rapidly expanding its activities within ESS integration. Currently our activities cover grid integration and hybridization of battery energy storage system (BESS), thermal storage (TES) and electrolyser-fuel cell systems. As a person we expect that you find it natural to collaborate with your colleagues, are open-minded, and like to actively engage in the activities of the section.
We expect you to have experience with energy storage system modelling, control and integration, and an academic background in electrical, chemical, or control engineering - or other relevant fields. A profile with theoretical, modelling as well as experimental expertise will be an advantage but is not a requirement.
You must contribute to teaching at the Department. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.
As a formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). If you are applying for the senior researcher position, you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as a researcher or postdoc. To be appointed as a senior researcher, you must have completed a didactic/pedagogic education. If you do not have the necessary education, then it is possible to complete this requirement within a period of two years of appointment.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
