We are seeking graduate engineers or scientists for our 2024 trainee programme. AWA is a 100% employee-owned consultant firm specialising in intellectual property rights and patent advisory services. Training from day one
You will become part of a team of 10-15 newly recruited graduate engineers from across our 18 offices in Scandinavia, Benelux, and Switzerland. Here, you will have the opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced and respected experts in the business.
During the first seven months of your employment, you will follow our unique graduate programme where you will work from our office in Copenhagen or Aalborg and spend time at several of our other offices. Through the programme you will be trained in patent law and counselling and have the opportunity to establish an international network. You will be assigned a mentor to assist you in the day-to-day work along with your other colleagues.
The graduate programme includes a combination of training sessions and client work in collaboration with colleagues across AWA.
As a graduate at AWA Denmark, you will become part of our team of approximately 50 consultants and paralegals in Denmark. You will use your analytical mindset in your daily work and collaborate with your colleagues to assist our clients in bringing new technologies to the market by providing patent advisory services. During the first period of your employment, you will participate in our graduate programme, where you will learn the fundamentals of patents and intellectual property.
As a graduate you will furthermore work on patent cases, including drafting patent applications, preparing correspondence with authorities and clients, and assessing patentability of our clients’ inventions in close collaboration with your colleagues.
After the graduate programme
After finalizing the graduate programme you will continue working as a patent consultant in Denmark and with increasing independency provide counselling to our clients on patent related matters. Our clients range from small companies to large corporations across all industries and technology areas and are some of the most innovative companies who are technologically at the forefront.
You will furthermore be expected to participate in training towards becoming certified as a European Patent Attorney.
Your profile
You are an ambitious graduate engineer or have a similar technical master’s degree. Your strong communication skills in speech and writing will be put to use in communication with authorities, partners, and clients. As a person, you are energetic, outgoing, and eager to learn a new field.
We imagine that you:
- Hold a technical master’s degree in a relevant field, such as in electrical or software engineering, mechanical engineering, materials and manufacturing engineering, biomedical engineering, civil engineering, physics, or the like
- Have recently graduated or have a few years of job experience as an engineer or scientist
- Possess an analytical mindset and are able to prioritise your time
- Are a team player and thrive with collaboration
- Are fluent in English; Danish language skills are preferable but not a requirement
