DTU Management invites applications for full professorships in Science and Technology Studies at DTU’s Department of Technology, Management and Economics. The department is striving to be a key player in DTU’s strategic aim to foster “Technology for People”, i.e. to put human needs and societal challenges and aspirations at the centre of technological innovation and implementation.

The successful applicant(s) will be based within the Division of Technology and Business Studies in the Human-Centred Innovation section.

Science and Technology Studies is an interdisciplinary scholarly field that makes inquiry into how science and technology are developed, adopted, resisted, and translated in practice. In the Human-Centred Innovation section we attend empirically to the processes through which human needs and aspirations are sought to be put at the centre of technological innovation and implementation. We explore how knowledge about human experience is made to better understand and intervene in the societal transformations brought about by science and technology.

A pivotal idea in Science and Technology Studies is that we need to understand science and technology as entanglements of social, technical, environmental, and political elements and also as part of larger infrastructural arrangements in order to grasp the impact of science and technology in society. The new faculty in the section will contribute to further deepening the cross-over of fieldwork methods and engineering expertise in the section. We are particularly invested in the role of experience of the digital society and in contributing to experimental quali- and quantitative research methods and methodologies to explore this area further with a solid foundation in Science and Technology Studies.
