Join us as our new Student Assistant in R&D Data Infrastructure in Lyngby

We are looking for a student assistant to join our infrastructure and devops team on-site in Lyngby and help with administration and maintenance of our Linux-based setup and the services that run on it.

You will join a multicultural team of very competent colleagues with a mix of computer science and biology backgrounds, brought together by a shared interest in open source technologies and cutting edge biotech research.

Our system landscape includes 500+ Ubuntu hosts (servers and VMs), a Hadoop Big Data cluster, a Ceph storage cluster, an HPC cluster, and a variety of technologies and systems on top of these, such as Kubernetes, containers, VM hosting, PostgreSQL, Nagios, Gitlab, Jenkins, Ansible, and more. We are continuously pursuing new technologies and developing applications to support Novonesis’ research activities.

In this role you’ll make an impact by:

You will play an important role in the system administration team where you will work with the entire IT stack from hardware and virtual machines, over metrics and monitoring to automation and orchestration.

It is a very hands-on job with opportunities to practice some of the methods from the books in a global company and gain experience from a large-scale, real-world research IT environment. You will quickly get a lot of responsibility while working together with full-time sysadmins who will provide help and guidance along the way.

To succeed you need to be:

  • Studying IT or Engineering (e.g., DTU, KU) with minimum 1 year remaining of your studies
  • Interested in learning on the job
  • Able to work independently and be a flexible team player
  • Fluent in English both verbal and written

 

Prior experience with Linux, Python scripting, git and general open-source knowledge is a big plus.

The time commitment is 10-15 hours a week, which can be split on 2-5 days. Workload can vary, and we expect you to be flexible. We will also provide flexibility during exams or other periods where there is less time for work.

We are located in the new Novonesis Innovation Campus near DTU in Lyngby.
