In this position, you will get the opportunity to work with a wide range of tasks, having a vital role in bringing our ASIC and RF electronic component based products to the market. We aim to stretch the technology to its edge of what is thought possible, ensuring feature rich products” says Hardware Engineering Manager Michael Hansen.

Sigma Designs in Denmark develops innovative software and hardware for wireless home control and the IoT industry. Our patented Z-Wave technology platform consists of an open standard short-range data communications protocol as well as state-of-the-art Single Chips. The Z-Wave ecosystem includes more than 2100 certified interoperable devices, and 600 member companies make up the Z-Wave Alliance. Check out our website to get the full tour.

Create cutting-edge circuits
Alongside your 2 colleagues in the hardware team, your primary task will be to design, simulate and validate Z-Wave hardware modules and product demonstrators for both internal and external customers. As such you work on a wide range of products varying from simple PCB demonstrators to complete mass producible products. You will work “hand-on” in all phases from initial idea to a fully qualified and mass producible product.

“It is up to you to design the circuits, figuring out what is needed and what works, as part of this you work cross-functional with SW and ASIC designers. With all the needed skills and knowledge in-house, we work together to find the right solution,” explains Michael.

A further key task is to contribute with feasibility assessment of how implementation can be carried out with high volume and cost in mind. You do this based on market requirements gathered by product marketing. Once the product has been defined and accepted, it is up to you to drive the implementation process based on your excellent skills within the realm of electronics.

Thus you:

  • Search and explore technologies to enable performance and cost competitive products
  • Specify and implement subparts to meet the system specification
  • Work with sub-contractors for product implementation, certification and approval
  • Ensure that relevant documentation is carried out

Electronics engineer
As the skilled planner you are, you work on multiple subjects simultaneously, keeping an eye on details while prioritizing your time according to given priorities. You cooperate closely with other colleagues, so communication and networking skills are essential. Your qualifications:

  • You have a technical background such as a MSc in engineering or another similar strong technical background, giving you a thorough knowledge of the electronics behind wireless networks and communication protocols.
  • You have 5+ years’ experience with electronics hardware and product design experience on PCB board level.
  • You have a thorough understanding of RF module and PCB design, and experience with Cadence schematics and PCB tools is beneficial.
  • You have experience with RF lab measurements and defining validation and qualifications test plans. You are one step ahead of the game if you have NI LabView experience, but it is not a requirement.

“You navigate in an area subject to countless regulatory requirements for short range radios, so should you have an interest in or knowledge of this area, this is your chance to shine - though it is by no means required. Most important is your can-do attitude, technical and electronic savvy combined with your eagerness to work with cutting-edge development of technology,” finishes Michael.

A supportive, informal and success seeking work-culture
Joining Sigma Designs in Copenhagen, Denmark, you will experience a supportive and multicultural office where you will get many different perspectives and cooperate with enthusiastic, hard-working colleagues. We prioritise the time for social activities, competitions, after work dinners and much more.
