Join us in this role where you and your colleagues will deep dive into the design and modelling of wind turbines and where you’ll become an influential player in the design and operation of our wind farms.

Welcome to Metocean & Loads
You’ll be part of the Metocean & Loads department where we primarily assess wind and marine conditions for our future offshore wind farms and calculate loads for the design of offshore wind turbine structures, although we do much more than that. In general, we support our organisation with expert knowledge on issues related to loads, aerodynamics and control, from feasibility and concept studies to detailed design and follow-up in the operations phase.

You’ll play an important role in one of the following scopes of your choice:

In Scope #1, you’ll:

  • be part of the technical due diligences of new wind turbines for our future offshore wind farms within the area of loads, aerodynamics, and control, and will support the design of those wind farms with expert knowledge about wind turbines
  • describe the technical requirements of the wind turbines for our future offshore wind farms within the area of loads, aerodynamics, and control, and will participate in negotiations with the OEMs resulting in the agreements for the supply of those wind turbines
  • develop models of wind turbines for our future offshore wind farms in our in-house aeroelastic tool, DEFLEX
  • have the opportunity to participate in other tasks in the team and across the department.

In Scope #2, you’ll:

  • design, implement, and test aerodynamic and controller features to optimise the operation of our wind turbines in collaboration with Operations Technology
  • develop models of wind turbines for our existing offshore wind farms in our in-house aeroelastic tool, DEFLEX
  • participate in the development of our tools
  • have the opportunity to participate in other tasks in the team and across the department.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have a master’s degree in engineering and extensive proven experience in building aeroelastic models and calculating loads on wind turbines, preferably from a wind turbine manufacturer
  • possess advanced knowledge of structural dynamics and aeroelasticity
  • have a deep understanding of rotor aerodynamics and control and protection systems in relation to loads and stability
  • have strong programming skills in MATLAB and/or Python
  • excel at creating and maintaining relations and are a fluent communicator, influential, and persistent.
