The Tech Transfer Office (TTO) at the University of Copenhagen (UCPH) is looking for a result-oriented colleague to join our Commercial Team of 6 business developers.  The TTO employs 20 professionals who work with knowledge transfer and commercialisation of UCPH research results. Our Commercial Team evaluates and protects UCPH intellectual property rights and enter commercial agreements on behalf of the University.

The Job
You will be responsible for your own portfolio – from invention disclosure to commercialisation. We expect you to have proven experience with the following tasks:

  • evaluation of disclosed inventions and their commercial potential;
  • protection of inventions and plan IP strategies together with external patent agents;
  • development and maturation of research results in close dialogue with researchers;
  • negotiation of commercial agreements with new spin-outs and established companies, nationally and internationally, in close collaboration with colleagues in the TTO Legal Team;
  • advise researchers on access to soft funding and venture capital.

Your Experience
You have a background in health science, preferably hold a PhD. You are an excellent communicator and negotiator, and you know how to close a deal. You are able to prioritise your work and you are not fazed by having to juggle several projects and deadlines simultaneously. You have an understanding of the framework conditions for research institutions and you are fluent in both Danish and English, spoken and written.

Terms of Employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). There will be the possibility of negotiation of supplementary salary based on your qualifications. Expected start of position is 1 April 2023 or as soon as possible.
