Now you have the opportunity to combine an internship with an exciting bachelor’s project in one of the world's leading companies within advanced hearing solutions. We are looking for two students, so it is also possible to apply as a team.

The framework for the project is Oticon's Audio Explorers Study Trip, which aims to map noise levels in big cities, so as part of your project you will also be participating in a trip to New York in August 2018. All costs and living expenses are of course paid by us.

If this sounds like something for you, then read on below.

Your main task
The main task of your internship will be to pick up the baton from the two previous Audio Explorers projects and further develop a sound level meter on Oticon's latest hearing aid platform (Velox), so that not only SPL is measured, but also for example Noise Dose or other relevant metrics. This will enable the user of the device to collect advanced measurement data about the surroundings when moving around in New York.

You do this by modifying the embedded software, which implements measurement methods and signal processing, and partly by designing and developing iOS, Android and PC software that can import and present the measurement results. The sound level meter must be ready for use when we travel to New York in August 2018 with 25 engineering students from all over Denmark.

We imagine that your project will include the following elements:

  1. Thesis statement, theoretical considerations and literature studies
  2. Specification and test of new signal processing on the Velox hearing aid platform
  3. Development of new PC software for collecting and processing measurement data
  4. Development of new iOS/Android software for display of measurement data
  5. Collection of measurement data in New York
  6. Post processing of measurement data
  7. Reporting and evaluation

Your profile
To be able to fulfil the above tasks, we expect you to have a theoretical (and preferably also practical) background within several of the following topics: 1) Acoustics and signal processing 2) Implementation and testing of DSP real-time systems 3) Matlab, C/C ++, Java 4) iOS and Android App programming 5) Data processing in MS Excel.

We imagine that the project will take the form of a 20-week internship followed by a 10-week exam project.

Want to join the team?
Then send your application and CV no later than January 10, 2018.

We process applications continuously, so do not hesitate to apply for this exciting opportunity at one of Denmark's most successful high-tech companies as soon as possible.

If you would like to know more about the project, please contact team leader Carsten Borg on either +45 39177100 or crbo@oticon.com

We look forward to hearing from you.
