RE-ADVERTISEMENT: Technical Lab Manager for ORBIT Lab

This is a unique opportunity to join a great team in a fast-growing tech and innovation hub at Aarhus University! As Lab Manager, you get to influence the future direction of ORBIT Lab and put your technical skills and passion to good use.

ORBIT Lab is an initiative launched by Aarhus University School of Engineering in close collaboration with other departments at Aarhus University and a number of leading tech companies. We are re-thinking the way to develop high quality, creative tech talents for the future and inspire innovation and entrepreneurship.

ORBIT Lab is an inspirational workspace and unique experimental facility packed with the most recent technology in mobile, wearable, cloud, IoT, VR/AR, and test equipment. The goal is to empower a vibrant and interdisciplinary community that enables the kind of deep learning that can only be acquired through immersion, exploration and trial-and-error.

We are looking for a full-time Lab Manager to assist with all aspects of the daily operations of the lab and be a driving force in the further development of the ORBIT concept – especially on the technical side.

The lab is situated at Aarhus University School of Engineering, in the very heart of campus at Katrinebjerg in Aarhus. It is accessible 24-7 for highly motivated students, primarily from engineering and computer science programs, guided and inspired by the best researchers and domain experts from Aarhus University and our industry partners from leading tech companies and startups. A core purpose of the lab is also to facilitate interdisciplinary collaborations on research and development projects with other AU departments and external organizations.

Aside from ongoing projects in the lab, we are hosting a range of events such as tech talks, workshops, hackathons and pitch nights to inspire, facilitate learning and foster networks with students, academics and industry partners.

We are looking for a person who:

  • Has a passion for technology and enjoys learning about and exploring new technologies
  • Loves hands-on problem solving, being creative and thinking outside the box
  • Has software/hardware development experience on one or more of the following platforms: web, mobile, wearables, cloud(backend), ”IoT” (embedded), VR, AR
  • Is organised, self-driven, enjoy responsibility, and can demonstrate leadership in projects and activities
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment that requires switching between many exciting projects
  • Enjoys helping and mentoring others

Bonus points are given for experience from startups or innovation projects, product development, interaction design, community building, or other entrepreneurial activities. You should hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as IT, software engineering, computer science or the like.

You will be employed at Aarhus University School of Engineering (ASE). The place of employment is Finlandsgade 22, 8200 Aarhus N. Earliest start date is 1 December 2019.
