The Job
FOSS develops and produces state of the art analytical instruments for analysis of milk, meat, grain, wine, and more. Our instruments combine state of the art electronics and optics with sophisticated flow systems and mechanical features. As a System Engineer, your primary responsibilities will be to understand and focus on the measuring performance of the analytical instruments in our product portfolio.

We work with a wide range of technologies such as NIR spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, X-ray imaging, flow cytometry, and automated chemical analysis. You must become the expert in supporting our instruments based on the before mentioned technologies. In this position, we expect you to solve quality and performance issues. Your daily tasks will be diverse and will typically span from root cause analysis of deviations in the measuring performance in our production, updating and improving the measuring chain, and validating the implemented changes.

Tasks are typically driven as smaller projects together with your colleagues in the Product Engineering team or with in-house specialists if needed. You will be expected to coordinate with external suppliers, Service engineers,  our Production, Sourcing, and your colleagues in the R&D department. Some long-distance travel may be required.

About you
Our ideal candidate comes with a Master’s degree, preferably with a PhD degree, in physical chemistry, spectroscopy, optics, or physics and possesses good analytical skills. You are fluent in English and it will be considered an advantage if you write and speak Danish. You ideally have a multidisciplinary background and experience using Matlab or similar tools.

You have a structured approach to your work and enjoy complex problem-solving. You thrive with taking on challenging tasks under time pressure, for instance if a customer is waiting or if production needs a fast solution.  You are self-driven, have a natural curiosity for learning new things, and you usually see solutions when looking at problems. You are talented at building strong working relationships and working with many different people, you are a team player with a good sense of humor.
