MedTrace is looking for a System Administrator to establish a strategically strong software development infrastructure within MedTrace by leveraging a technical profile strong in system and network skills, utilizing those skills during system design and in the future to troubleshoot customer installations. 

Our products are designed to help patients be diagnosed quickly and accurately, and we are dedicated to becoming the global leader in perfusion imaging. We are growing rapidly, backed by strong investors such as ATP, BankInvest, Swisscanto, Private Equity, and the European Innovation Council.

You will be part of an IT development team consisting of backend developers, frontend developers, MATLAB developers, a solution architect, and a project manager. The team is locatedin Spain, Denmark, and the Netherlands therefore you will join meetings using Microsoft Teams on a regular basis during normal working hours.

The team has the responsibility of designing, documenting, estimating, developing, and testing solutions of medical device software, specifically MedTrace’s aQuant software. The strictly regulated environment of medical devices drives the need for strict configuration management of all aspects of the software product as well as strict documentation and testing requirements.

The software is running as Spring Boot applications in a micro service event-driven architecture using websocket and socket communication between the services. The development environments are hosted on Unix servers.

Your role will be to orchestrate infrastructure, deployments, secrets, and penetration testing. You should understand networking at a complex level as well as certificates, webserver protocols, and optimization techniques. You will be expected to help the team by professionalizing the network setup and contributing with knowledge of tools like F5, NGINX, and Prometheus and of logging tools. You will help provide monitoring, real-time migration strategies, and reliance engineering.

You will help provide monitoring, rel-time migration strategies, and reliance engineering.

You will need to be flexible and fit in to the current state of the software development function. The software development organization at MedTrace is maturing and therefore you must be able to adjust to contribute with the right activities at the right time.

Key responsibilities:

  • Orchestrate infrastructure, deployments, secrets, and penetration testing
  • Maintain, configure, and promote reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualization
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to software developers for planning and implementing new or upgraded IT infrastructure
  • Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures

Requirements:

  • Wide experience in,
    • network configuration
    • server administration (Linux and to a lesser extent Windows) 
    • cyber security, and 
    • server virtualization
  • Ambitions to become a skilled medical device engineer in a strongly regulated environment
  • Speak, read, and write English fluently

It is bonus if you have experience with any of the following:

  • Medical device development (IEC62304), risk management (ISO14971), and design control (FDA Design Control Guidance for Medical Device Manufacturers)
  • UML in Sparx Enterprise Architect
  • Creating platforms with very long lifetimes
  • Strongly regulated environments (if not medical devices, then space, aviation, defense, automotive)
  • CI/CD
