We are working on a groundbreaking solution for energy procurement that enables all companies to enter an emerging type of energy contracts (Power Purchase Agreements, PPAs) that accelerate the renewable transition. Reel aggregates SMEs to enable them to act as a synthetic, large company and sign PPAs. We achieve this through an aggregational software model, a novel risk management system and a standardized contractual framework. We aim to become a central marketplace for renewable energy procurement – transparent and available for all.

Working at Reel
At Reel, creating a creative, safe, and inclusive environment is front and centre. We want to make sure that everyone has the independence and support to do exceptional work and feel great in the process. We don't believe that stressful deadlines and endless meetings create the desired results. We believe in a focused, calm workspace where employees are trusted to make independent decisions. We believe in a workspace where people have the time and capacity to do the things they are passionate about outside of work.

Sure, you will experience busy periods working at Reel. We're a startup, and from time to time it will be necessary to take two steps at a time. But busy isn't the default. Thoughtful, deliberate work is. We are a close-knit community and at busy times, we help each other out. We strive to create a workspace that our team members want to remain a part of for years to come. We are a small team of four. We are at the pre-seed level. Working here, you'll get to experience all the ups and downs of working at an early-stage startup. That probably means you'll do well if you are happy to roll up your sleeves and work independently. We will do our best to support your growth journey here, but don't expect a big support back-office.

Your Role at Reel
As a Sustainability Intern, you'll take charge on developing a new sustainability framework for quantifying, attributing and monitoring environmental impacts from electricity. Reel is rooted in science and we are looking to transform academic research on sustainability and energy systems into actionable insights for companies. Your main task will be to help build the sustainability arm of our tech platform. Among other things, this will include:

  • Qualitative research and data collection

  • Quantitative and qualitative data analysis and transformation

  • Framework and wireframe development for our tech platform

  • Blog-post writing to help shape the public debate on renewable energy

  • Contribution to the writing of a scientific article on our sustainability assessment framework

Your Profile
We imagine you have a background in environmental studies, environmental engineering, social sciences or similar. You are comfortable working with a high level of autonomy and independence. As a team member, you are conscientious, curious, and eager to learn. As a human, you are thoughtful, kind, and supportive. We are - for now - a small team, so your ability to be part of the team in a meaningful and positive way is of paramount importance to us. In addition, the ideal candidate will have some (not necessarily all) of the following traits:

  • Strong academic profile (ideally Master's student, but Bachelor's students can also apply)

  • Demonstrated interest in sustainability. Knowledge of renewably energy and Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) is a plus but not a requirement

  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

  • Experience in LCA specific software (e.g. SimaPro or openLCA) is a plus but not a requirement

  • Highly organized with attention to detail

  • Quick learner and ability to process and understand information quickly

  • Strong writing and communication skills. Danish is not required, but a plus if you can read and write Danish

  • Curious - ability to self-motivate and know when to ask question

We encourage all candidates, regardless of age, gender, sex, ethnicity, religious beliefs, etc. to apply.
