About the department
As part of Novo Nordisk’s Product Supply organization, Diabetes Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients is responsible for manufacturing all Insulin products. You will be assigned to Manufacturing Development (MDev), a cross-functional area that works at the interface between R&D and full-scale manufacturing with a focus on technology transfer, scale-up and process improvement optimization. You will be employed in MDev Bioprocess Improvement-Optimization (MDev BIO), a newly established and growing group of 4 highly skilled colleagues plus 3+1 MSc students of which you will be our new “+1”, working with advance model development  for advance, data-driven understanding of Pharmaceutical Processes.

In MDev BIO we have a problem-solving mindset where we work in a dynamic environment to convert process engineering challenges into opportunities. If you’re curious as to how we tackle these challenges and would like some examples, then continue reading.  We tackle these challenges through Multiscale Modelling where we have activities in Mechanistic Modelling, Process Control Modelling, Capacity Modelling and Supply Chain Optimization Modelling. Briefly, we aim to navigate a complex design and decision space for each of the scales on the multiscale. As our new colleague, you will be joining us in a new concept we would like to explore the development of a systematic approach for complex systems representation consisting of deterministic and stochastic elements for advanced process understanding.

The position
We are looking for someone who is motivated by and enjoys analysing data, problem conceptualization, developing models and solving these models for system understanding. So, what will you do?

  • Interject new concepts for system conceptualization and characterization
  • Understand and justify why for a given system, a certain type of mathematical model consisting of deterministic, stochastic or a combination of both should be used
  • Apply these models for system understanding and feature extraction

This job gives you a great opportunity to play a part in shaping the future of Pharmaceutical manufacturing across the organization, in close collaboration with similar teams in research and manufacturing in Novo Nordisk.

Qualifications
The candidate should have the following or developing qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled within the 1st year in an MSc programme within a Danish university. NB: If you are currently finishing your BSc thesis you are also welcomed to apply
  • Studying within the fields of applied mathematics, mathematical modelling and computation
  • Experience with equation/object-oriented programming. An asset but not a requirement would be familiarization with one or more of the following tools: Matlab, SAS, Wolfram etc.
  • Curious and an appetite for solving complex problems applying a systems approach

When applying, if you are a recent graduate, we request that you upload your latest transcripts, a cover letter and curriculum vitae.

Together we drive change
At Novo Nordisk, we don’t wait for change. We drive it. We’re a dynamic company in an even more dynamic industry, and we know that what got us to where we are today is not necessarily what will make us successful in the future. We embrace the spirit of experimentation, striving for excellence without fixating on perfection. We never shy away from opportunities to develop, we seize them. From research and development, through to manufacturing, marketing and sales – we’re all working to move the needle on patient care.
