SW Manager to lead the development of the next generation instrument PC SW
Would you like to take on an influential role as manager in our Research & Development Software Department? To have the responsibility to direct, enable and challenge skilled software development specialists in an innovative, leading, international company?

Then this is your opportunity to be part of our growing R&D Department, joining the software management team, with people and project responsibility for the PC SW Development Team.

The R&D Software Department currently comprises of more than 90 software development experts, corresponding to approximately 1/3 of the R&D organization in FOSS. We work in cross-functional project teams allocated to network services, PC software and embedded systems.We apply the latest and greatest tools based on C#, C++ and HTML5/JS to develop state of the art online enabled and accessible applications and services.

We are organized in scrum development teams in Denmark and abroad. The teams' tasks include design, development and support of instrument SW as well as development of the next generation SW platform for our instruments. We anticipate increased software development and plenty of opportunities for personal growth and career development within technical, solutions or business management.

The position
As part of the software management team you will be responsible for delivering high-quality software development while also expanding our software products to meet the needs of our instrument- and online business. You will manage a line of expert, software development specialists, all engaged in working with highly skilled colleagues on interdisciplinary projects, integrating advanced technologies into our products. The software organization is growing, but currently the size of the team is approximately 12 people.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Motivating specialists to design and deliver quality software development of product solutions based on Microsoft
  • Ensuring high employee satisfaction
  • Facilitating professional, technical dialogue and expert competence development
  • Creating, coordinating and following up on development plans
  • Supporting teams and project coordinators in resolving challenges and overcoming obstacles
  • Assisting in clarifying and scoping project requirements

Qualifications
You are an experienced team manager with the competence to lead creative software development teams working with the agile/scrum development model and understand what is essential to architect systems. You are able to connect software development to the needs of our business and enjoy being engaged in professional discussions, reviewing systems, securing that the teams and projects succeed.

To quality for this influential role you have:

  • A background as a software developer/architect or equivalent (BSc or MSc)
  • Extensive experience managing software projects - preferably from the software development industry
  • Competence as people manager
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and scrum development processes
  • Knowledge from working with design and development of Microsoft PC SW- and Linux applications.
