Software Engineering Internship and Bachelor Project Opportunity - Oticon Audio Explorers
Combine your internship with an exciting bachelor’s project in one of the world's leading companies within advanced hearing solutions. We are looking for two students, so it is also possible to apply as a team.
The framework for the project is Oticon's Audio Explorers Study Trip to New York in August 2019, where we invite 25 top engineering students from all over Denmark to experience the city from an audio and engineering perspective. You will of course also participate in the trip, and all costs and living expenses are paid by us. During the trip, the students will gather data for our R&D department to use in their AI and machine learning efforts, and this is where you come in.
Your main task
The main task of your internship will be to pick up the baton from the three previous Audio Explorers projects, and further develop a data-logging application on Oticon's latest hearing aid platform (Velox). This will enable the user of the device to collect advanced measurement data about the sound environment when moving around in New York.
You do this by modifying the embedded software, which implements measurement methods and signal processing, and partly by designing and developing iOS, Android and PC software that can import and present the measurement results, so that R&D can use it upon our return. The data-logging application must be ready for use when we travel to New York in August 2019.
When you return from New York, you will continue working on your bachelor project where your main objective is to post-process the collected data and design algorithms for further data exploration.
We imagine that your internship and bachelor project will include the following elements:
- Thesis statement, theoretical considerations and literature studies
- Specification and test of new measurement strategies using the Velox hearing aid platform
- Development of new PC software for collecting and processing measurement data
- Development of new iOS/Android software for display of measurement data
- Collection of measurement data in New York
- Post processing of measurement data
- Reporting and evaluation
To be able to fulfil the above tasks, we expect you to have a theoretical and/or practical background within the following topics: 1) Acoustics and signal processing 2) Implementation and testing of DSP real-time systems 3) Matlab, C/C ++, Java 4) iOS and Android App programming 5) Microsoft Power BI.
We imagine that the project will take form of a 20-week internship followed by a 10-week Bachelor Project.
