Metroselskabet and Hovedstadens Letbane is now recruiting a Signal Systems Engineer.

The appointee will be employed in the Transportation Systems Unit with 25 dedicated Technical Specialists, Design-, Test- and Interface Managers. The task of the Unit is to secure design and installation of all parts of the transportation system, i.e. SCADA systems, passenger information and security systems, traction power and two different signal systems for driverless metro operation. The Unit monitors the delivery from the Transportation System suppliers and the fulfillment of requirements and is active in all phases of the infrastructure projects - planning, specification of requirements, design, installation, test, commissioning and operation.

Metroselskabet and Hovedstadens Letbane are leading large construction and transportation projects of international scale with focus on sustainable public transport for the citizens in the greater Copenhagen and its visitors. It is an exciting and busy period for the company with the recent opening of Cityringen (M3), test and commissioning of the Nordhavn extension, design of the branch off to Sydhavn and the construction and development of the light rail along Ring 3. Moreover, the company has a large capacity improvement programme for the metro lines M1-M2 and is responsible for future transportation development projects to support the development of Copenhagen, i.e. the Lynetteholmen project.

Fields of responsibility
The appointee will work on different projects in the Systems Unit and support the Signal Systems Manager on signaling projects and projects interfacing to signaling. While maturing in the role, the appointee will gradually take over responsibilities and lead these projects.

The role will include assessing the performance of the signal systems, monitoring and analyzing operational data, documenting the system, investigating incidents and compiling reports on significant events. The role will also cover retrieving and maintaining relevant documentation for the projects.

Monitoring of the on-going maintenance of the signal systems and gaining a deep knowledge of the maintenance needs will also form part of the role.

The appointee will - amongst other projects - take part in the following on-going large-scale projects:

  • Operational optimization of the Cityringen (M3) signal system
  • Extension of Cityringen (M3) to Nordhavnen and later to Sydhavnen (M4)
  • Re-signaling of the existing metro lines M1-M2, currently in the analysis phase

Professional skills
The appointee must posses the following professional skills:

  • Very strong numerate and analytical skills
  • Prior knowledge on electrical control systems an advantage
  • Familiarity with railways and railway equipment an advantage
  • Ability to assimilate knowledge in diverse disciplines and apply the knowledge effectively
  • Systematic and structured approach to tasks
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently without close supervision
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
  • Enquiring and curious mind and willingness to learn
  • English written and spoken fluency (fluency in Danish is an advantage)

Personal skills
The successful candidate is passionate and shows professional pride for development and sharing of knowledge in the organization. The candidate is motivated by new challenges and takes ownership of problems and projects within the area of expertise.

The appointee can work independently, but does also use colleagues to build knowledge, and has a collaboration with suppliers and other stakeholders.

Education
The appointee should have an engineering or technical qualification to a degree level. The appointee could have several years of experience from relevant work or be a recent graduate.
