We are currently looking for a Senior System Engineering Manager (SEM) to join the Signalling Programme in Thales Denmark A/S. Reporting to the Project Director; the Senior SEM will be responsible for a scope of delivery within engineering and development, in close collaboration with Solution SEM and other System SEMs.

Key Responsibilities and tasks:

  • Manage integration of external interfaces in collaboration with the integration and test team
  • Manage and ensure clarity of scope for releases in development and engineering
  • Ensure baselines and releases in alignment with the schedule and engineering process
  • Ensure interface between engineering and other areas (installation, production, T&C etc.)
  • Initiate contractual changes together and support contract management in the development of Change Requests
  • Change and defect management for Development and Engineering
  • Report and escalate issues to management as needed (e.g. delays, technical issues, changes to scope etc.)
  • Report progress using relevant KPIs and forecast of the engineering activities and resource needs
  • Support engineering project managers in execution and management of roll-out lines
  • Liaise with the customer engineering and project-management team
  • Ensure collaborative working relationships and good communication with all parties (the customer, the consortium partner and the different Thales entities)
  • Manage approx. 8 people in the engineering team
  • Manage, develop, improve and control the engineering processes
  • Ensure the tool chain supports the process and requirements
  • Manage review and approval of engineering results. Secure quality gate reviews, verification and validation of the Engineering results
  • Solve technical and quality issues

Experience and skills:

  • Advanced knowledge in railway signalling technology and communication systems
  • Strong leadership skills, engaging and developing teams
  • Experienced project manager
  • Experience with building structure and processes
  • The ability to create own frame of work, wherever it is missing
  • Engineering degree, quick to understand technical challenges and find solutions
  • Excellent collaboration skills, in particular in a multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary and sometimes chaotic environment
  • Experience with collaboration over several entities and countries.
  • Experience with creating and leading virtual teams
  • Able to manage requirements and deliveries to and from sub-contractors, partners and customer
  • Knowledge of software/IT development
  • Conflict resolution
