This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-growth company with a unique business model in a workplace where you can truly make a difference. Better Energy is a leading solar energy provider with 250+ employees and counting. We are currently looking for a senior specialist to join the Engineering & Design at one of our locations in Denmark.

We’re not hired. We join.
Gigawatts of renewable power plants in various configurations sourced from multiple vendors calls for standardised yet flexible concepts which we can adapt to the local environment with minimum effort and risk. We see you having an important role in this mission.

You will join a small team responsible for the design concepts of the MV collector systems within our plants as well as the HV connection towards the utility company. New ideas can be tested on our new ambitious test facility next door. In close collaboration with our construction department, we apply the concepts to the plant-specific designs. The team is also staffed with analysts responsible for our grid compliance studies.

How you will make a difference in Better Energy
Better Energy is an informal organisation in which the right idea gets executed. Fast.

Our organisation is characterised by easy and quick ways of communication, giving you a basis for influencing how you solve your tasks to the best of your abilities.

We are flexible in relation to working hours and location, but as our technology hub is located in Sønderborg, we expect that you will spend part of your time there.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Engineer concepts for HV/MV primary components (1-400 kV) for our plants in Northern Europe

  • Support plant-specific design of collector systems

  • Develop technical specifications and engage with supplies

So, who are we looking for?
You are an electrical engineer with minimum 5-10 years’ professional experience, eager to share and apply your vast knowledge base with a young team.

Additionally, we find it important that you possess the following competencies:

  • Proficiency in design of primary HV/MV substation components (transformers, switchgear, grounding systems, reactive compensation, ac filters, etc.)

  • Good understanding of the interface to secondary systems (measurement and protection, communication, control, supervision, auxiliary power, etc.)

  • Knowledge of HV cable system design

  • Experience with analysis of short-circuit and inrush-currents

  • Experience with tender, construction, commissioning, and operation of HV systems

  • Experience with graphical documentation (e.g. Autocad), short-circuit calculation (e.g. PowerFactory) and preferably EMT-analysis (e.g. PSCAD)

  • Professional proficiency in English and Danish (spoken and written)

Of personal qualities we expect you to be

  • Analytical in your approach with a solid theoretical background

  • Motivated by sharing knowledge with colleagues so the team delivers the right solutions

  • Open-minded and curious about new ways of working

It is crucial that you possess an entrepreneurial mindset and are willing to learn and grow together with Better Energy. We are in constant development and our team must not just be ready to develop with the company, but also enjoy the growth journey we are on.

And what about the benefits?
Well, aside from top notch offices in beautiful spaces across our five locations, you will experience a workplace with passionate people, laughter, and social gatherings. You will have a varied job with a lot of responsibility and plenty of room for personal development.

You will experience the satisfaction and pride of working for something as important as the green transition, while having fun with your colleagues. Some days may require late working hours but in general you will experience a flexible workday with good work life balance and excellent employer benefits including the opportunity of a home office.
