Senior Scientist in Data Science for Digital Farming

Then the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Aarhus University, Denmark, offers a Senior Scientist position in this field.
Expected start date
Expected start date is November 1st, 2022.
The successful applicant will acquire, lead and contribute to a number of externally funded projects aiming at linking advanced information, sensing and communication technology with the management of innovative automation and smart processes, specifically planning, intelligent operations optimization, and system evaluation to improve sustainability of farming systems. The position includes contributing to the development of The Operations Management research group as well as generating ambitious research projects within this area. In addition, the position includes contributions to Public Sector Consultancy. The applicant should demonstrate the ability to perform research in an interdisciplinary field involving competences from agricultural science, operations management and computer engineering. Projects are typically carried out in collaboration with external partners including industry, business organizations and other universities in Denmark and abroad.
- The successful candidate should have competences within:
- PhD degree in Computer Engineering/Data Science, specialized in the application of advanced data processing (e.g. AI)
- Experience in academic leadership, excellent written/verbal communication and a strong record of professional/scholarly achievements
- Applicants should in addition to a PhD degree have at least 5 years of post-graduate research and publication experience
- Research leadership and ability to define and manage research projects is expected, as is a successful record of external research funding.
- The successful candidate must show evidence of a productive publication record.
- Participation in international and national networks of researchers as well as international project applications.
- Experience and knowledge of research-based advisory services
Who we are
The successful candidate is employed in the Section of Communication, Control and Automation, which is a part of Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Researchers in the section develop Control Engineering, Network Computing, Communications and Storage, Networks and Analytics, and Operations Management. The research activities contribute to application of innovative technologies in various domains (e.g. Agri-food) and contribute to improved management and sustainability of production systems. The work involves knowledge of computer engineering, data analytics, modelling, and transformations in natural and engineered ecosystems.

Place of work and area of employment
The position includes two permanent workplace addresses in Aarhus and Viborg, respectively. The attendance at each workplace address is by agreement with your immediate supervisor. At the time of employment, the distribution between the workplace addresses is expected to be 1 day with place of employment in Aarhus and 4 days with place of employment in Viborg. In Aarhus the place of work is Finlandsgade 10, 8200 Aarhus. In Viborg, the place of work is Blichers Alle 20, 8800 Viborg. The area of employment is Aarhus University with affiliated institutions.

Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
