We must store our green energy from wind and solar cost-effectively so that we can maintain our security of supply while succeeding with the green conversion. We already have some of the solutions, while others have not been sufficiently demonstrated yet. But with the world's best energy system, razor-sharp brains, and a clear goal of independence from fossil fuels, we are well on our way.

What we are missing now is the right profile to lead pivotal technical activities towards a greener gas system. Your new workplace will be at our office in Ballerup with great opportunities to also work from home, and flexibility in relation to the organization of your work.

The Organization and department
You will be part of the Technology Development (Teknologi Udvikling) department in the Gas Transmission business unit, asset owner and operator of the Danish gas transmission infrastructure. You will be joining a growing team of currently 10 dedicated employees with a broad professional expertise in design, process optimization, asset management, commissioning, and technical project management. We are especially leading the design of green gas infrastructure projects and coordinating efforts spanning from project planning to construction (e.g. pipelines, M/R, compressor stations). We are also highly client-oriented and provide engineering services to the rest of the Energinet group and collaborate with dedicated colleagues who are supporting us with e.g. EHSQ, permitting and procurement processes.

We have a growing portfolio of hydrogen, biogas and CO2 projects and are responsible for developing our zero-emission national infrastructure with cost-effective, safe and future-proof solutions.  We are committed to accelerating the green transition by taking responsibility in our hands and proactively lead the way to the full-decarbonization of the energy system. This is a matter of highly interdisciplinary coordination (including technology, regulations, environment, innovation etc.). Therefore, you should expect to work in close collaboration with experts from other parts of the organization as well as other national and international partners.

Job description and ideal candidate
We are looking for highly motivated candidates that want to leave their footprint in the path towards a greener society.

You are part of multiple project groups and dynamic teams - either as a technical specialist or in a coordinating role as technical project manager. Here you help to ensure the professional level of the project, and to make decisions based on qualified knowledge and data basis. Together with our sister companies we advise on the trajectory to follow for the conversion of the existing infrastructure towards carbon neutrality.

Your core mission is to be discipline lead in relation to new and existing innovative projects, with special focus on hydrogen and other green gasses (e.g. biogas, CO2).

You are the discipline lead for projects from as early as the concept and feasibility phases, down to FEED, detail design and implementation, and you contribute to advisory services linked to preparation of technical reports, specifications, proposals related to engineering projects and installation of critical equipment.

In particular you have experience in design and operation of rotating equipment (mostly focus on: medium /large centrifugal as well as reciprocating compressors).

Responsibilities include:

  • Design of compression systems
  • Support design of plants, including compressor stations, and participate in process optimization (e.g. by evaluating the convenience of employing turboexpanders)
  • Preparing and presenting technical diagrams (e.g. PFDs, P&IDs), reports and materials such as cost estimates, design basis, maintenance strategies.
  • Developing technical specifications of rotating equipment for procurement, as well as evaluating offers from suppliers.
  • Performing site inspections during installation and commissioning activities.

It is a requirement that you have at least an BSc from relevant engineering education (e.g. Civil, Mechanical, Process/Chemical) with at least 7-10 years of documented experience in working first-handed with gas transport/process infrastructure from relevant industries within the chemical, oil & gas, or energy sectors.

Curiosity and motivation to learn and develop knowledge within relevant gas topics that you are not familiar with are also of key importance.

In addition to the points mentioned above, practical familiarity within the following technical areas is highly valued:

  • Design standards and codes for green gas transport infrastructure and rotating equipment (API’s etc)
  • PtX technology (e.g. electrolyzers, e-methanation) and hydrogen compression & conditioning

As a person, you are especially proactive and a do-er. You are cooperative, responsible, quality-conscious and professional. You are able to find common solutions and can direct your communication to technicians, specialists, suppliers, external partners and authorities. You are able to work independently and thrive on defining and solving challenges yourself and dealing with demanding issues. Your positive and engaging attitude helps maintain a healthy work culture. Also, you must thus be able to immerse yourself in subject areas in which you continuously improve and update your skills.

Travel activity to Energinet's offices and facilities, e.g. in Fredericia and Egtved can be expected, just as travel abroad in connection with international work can also occur.

Language requirements
Fluency in English both speaking and writing is a must.

Fluency in Danish both speaking and writing is recommended.
