The Hearing Systems group at DTU Electrical Engineering seeks a qualified candidate for a position as a senior researcher/researcher in the field of cognitive auditory neuroscience.

Responsibililties and tasks
The main task of the successful candidate will be to contribute to the advancement of the field of cognitive auditory neuroscience at DTU Electrical Engineering and in collaboration with external partners at Danish hospitals.

The aim is to support and extend world-class research within auditory neuroscience centered at the Hearing Systems group and its international research collaborations. The research covers behavioural psychophysics, neuroimaging and computational modelling to reveal neural processing mechanisms in the normal and impaired auditory system. The focus will be on a better understanding of the mechanisms behind robust coding of natural sounds in everyday listening environments and on how cortical and subcortical auditory processes are influenced by a given task context. Hearing Systems is part of the EU H2020 project “Cognitive control of a hearing aid” (COCOHA), which focuses on neural measures of auditory attention with applications in neuro-steered hearing instruments.

The successful candidate will contribute to the further development of this research area. The candidate will also support activities in the international collaborative project “Uncovering hidden hearing loss” (UHEAL) with the aim to understand the consequences of auditory nerve neuropathy and its consequences for perception and central brain processing. The candidate is expected to be involved in teaching activities at DTU.

Close interaction with international partners in the COCOHA and UHEAL projects, as well as close collaboration with partners at the Danish Research Centre for Magnetic Resonance at Copenhagen University Hospital Hvidovre in the field of auditory functional MRI. It is expected that the successful candidate will work in close interaction with other academic, clinical, and industrial partners.

The candidate must have a detailed knowledge and extensive experience within the following:

  • Documented experimental proficiency in auditory functional magnetic resonance imaging and auditory electrocorticography.
  • Advanced statistical analysis of auditory neuroscience data.
  • Assessment methods of hearing function, experimental psychoacoustics, cognitive neuroscience, cognitive testing, and auditory modelling.

Assessment
In the assessment of the candidates, consideration will be given to:

  • Research impact and experience, funding track record and research vision
