The National Food Institute (DTU Food, Denmark) invites applications for a position as senior research scientist in the Research Group on Food Production Engineering. Focus areas of the group are on developing a deeper mechanistic, primarily physical and chemical, understanding of food processing. This is supported by mathematical modelling and the use of advanced methods for monitoring of food production systems and distribution systems. The goal is to provide new, cutting-edge knowledge of principles of industrial food processing and the creation of novel technologies within this field. Under the groups auspices is the DTU Centre for Hygienic Design.
The research field for the position concerns the development of technologies, methods and approaches to design and cleanability of food processing equipment in a broad sense.
Responsibilities and tasks
A deep understanding of the hygiene concepts for food factory design with a special focus on hygienic design of food processing equipment is necessary. Excellent knowledge about the various approaches and tests for assessing the cleanability of the equipment is required as a primary task is to supervise and conduct such tests according to the EHEAG guidelines in the DTU Centre for Hygienic Design.
You will contribute to further development of the research field of the group and engage in development of food process engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to provide visionary leadership in food process engineering by incorporating a combination of emerging technologies and mathematic modelling to develop a robust, collaborative, externally funded research program.
You will be involved in teaching, innovation and advisory activities in relation to food technology and food production engineering. Teaching activities will include supervision of student projects.
An important task is to engage in collaboration with industry. A good track record of such experiences will be important.
Candidates must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in food technology and food production engineering and much have a strong track record of doing innovation activities with industrial partners as well offering scientific advice to the private and public sector. Specifically, a profound knowledge of the EHEDG guidelines would be required.
Further, a good teaching portfolio on BSc and MSc level is required.
In the assessment of the candidates, consideration will be given to:
- Research impact and experience, funding track record, and research vision
