The Yeast Natural Products Section at the Center for Biosustainability is seeking a dedicated senior researcher (co-Principle Investigator) to lead a team of scientists and engineers to engineer yeast to produce a variety of natural and unnatural products. The goal of the work in this section is to develop a Saccharomyces cerevisiae (yeast) platform for production of natural fungal polyketides and non-ribosomal peptides and for refactoring these pathways to produce unnatural products for human health, agriculture, and a variety of other applications.

Responsibilities and tasks
The responsibilities of the position will include:

  • Coordination of all program related activities
  • Solicit input from relevant functions in project and ensure progress
  • Keep up to date and follow up on detailed Gantt charts and activity lists
  • Execute project wide update meetings
  • The senior researcher (co-Principle Investigator) will work in a highly motivated team of 5 researchers
  • Work closely with other PIs and co-PIs in the natural products sections at the CFB
  • Submit proposals for extramural funding from government and private agencies

Qualifications
Candidates must

  • hold a PhD degree (or equivalent), as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as a researcher or postdoc.

A qualified candidate has/is:

  • +5 years of research management experience from industry or academics
  • Highly motivated by the potential of natural products and yeast as a production platform
  • Hard working and dedicated to their work
  • Team player with a desire to help his/her colleagues succeed
  • Strong writing and communication skills

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
