The Department of Electrical Engineering invites applicants for a position as a senior researcher at our Center for Electric Energy and Power.

The position is anchored in the research group ‘Electric Power Systems’. The group is working in the area of operation, control, and protection of complex electric power and energy systems based on fluctuating renewable energy resources. The research focuses on among others the methods for evaluation of the impact of solar PV and wind power on power system operation and control, real time stability and security assessment, and wide area monitoring, protection and control methods.

You are expected to do research in the field of design, operation and resilience of electric power grids with extensive large-scale integration of renewable energy sources, considering e.g. power electronic-connected units, HVDC and active distribution grids. Your research is expected to be based on novel numeric and analytical computational methods and apply modern analytics.

Responsibilities and tasks
CEE strives for academic excellence in research, education, and innovation within electric power and energy, and as a senior researcher, you are expected to contribute to our common goals through your activities and in close and rich collaboration with your colleagues at the centre.

You duties are high-level research and innovation. You will contribute to development of the research area of operation and control of renewable based power and energy systems by development of new methods, tools and innovative solutions. Your research could address challenges related to high penetration of power-converter-based energy resources, active distribution grids with a level of autonomy, and incorporation of cyber-physical aspects. You research may take benefit of our experimental and simulation platforms in PowerLabDK (www.powerlab.dk).

Your research will contribute to CEE’s overall research aim, namely the development of new knowledge and solutions, which enable the most integrated, marked-based, and flexible energy system based on digital technologies and renewables in a reliable and affordable manner. Specifically, your research will contribute to the three overarching research themes of the centre: Digital energy solutions, Interconnected energy system and Optimized electric energy technologies.

As an integrated part of your work, you are expected to build-up a close and confident collaboration with colleagues at CEE and DTU in general. You will also contribute to strengthening CEE’s international academic network and developing our strategic partnerships with the industry. You will develop research proposals and attract funding for realising your research and collaboration with key stakeholders, industrial partners, universities and research institutions in national and international research projects.

You will supervise PhD-students and MSc/BSc-students, and contribute to other educational activities after mutual agreement.
