Department of Civil Engineering at Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Section of Geotechnics and Geology is seeking a Senior Research Scientist in the field of Drilling related geophysics and geomechanics. The research includes theoretical and experimental investigations of subsurface stress fields and rock properties w.r.t. well planning and wellbore stability. The position also involves teaching obligations.

Responsibilities and tasks
The candidate will participate in scientific research projects together with industrial and academic partners in the field of drilling related geophysics and geomechanics.
It is expected that the candidate will be very active in applying for future research funding, participate in conferences and publish project results. The candidate must be able to contribute to the teaching portfolio of the department as well.

  • The candidate will participate in ongoing research projects to Determine subsurface stress fields in the Central North Sea.
  • Evaluate the risk of rock failure in relation to drilling and production.
  • Advanced 4-D geomechanical modelling.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent and relevant academic and industrial
experience.

Further qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in subsurface stress field prediction.
  • Knowledge of relevant geophysical disciplines.
  • Knowledge of drilling operations, well planning and post-well evaluation.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment.
  • Excellent English and communication skills.

Salary and terms of employment
