Senior Researcher in vivo Drug Delivery and Theranostics in Immunology, Inflammation and Cancer

DTU Nanotech conducts cross-disciplinary research where micro- and nanotechnology is applied to a wide range of scientific disciplines as well as applications. The colloids and biological interfaces (CBIO) group is focused on nanoparticle design, synthesis, biophysical characterization and biological evaluation. The focus is on the fundamental properties of these systems from a basic research perspective.

The CBIO group at DTU Nanotech wishes to employ a senior scientist in highly interdisciplinary projects focusing on drug delivery research within the areas of cancer, immunotherapy, infection and inflammation. The main task will be to explore and develop advanced in vivo models and systems to investigate and evaluate drug delivery and biological and disease mechanisms. The work will include in vivo molecular imaging, including; PET, CT, MR, Fluorescence and bioluminescence imaging, experimental surgical procedures and preclinical radiation therapy.

Responsibilities and tasks 
The work will be carried out in close collaboration with different research groups and, within the framework of the Center for Nanomedicine and Theranostics. You will play a leading role in the in vivo research and biological analyses and related activities in the CBIO group, interacting with several members working in different disciplines, such as chemistry, biochemistry, biology, pharmacology and pathology. The job involves co-supervision of PhD and master students as well writing of research grant proposals. Qualifications 
Candidates must 

  • hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as Researcher or Postdoc.

You hold a PhD within the area of biological science (e.g. veterinary medicine, biology, medicine or human biology) and have several years’ experience in multidisciplinary work environment in drug delivery, molecular imaging, pathology and disease mechanisms (cancer, immunology, inflammation, infectious disease). Strong track record in these areas are a requirement.

Solid background in molecular imaging techniques, in vivo evaluation of drug delivery and efficacy, preclinical radiation and medical oncology, medical devices, cell based assays (flow cytometry and FACS) and microscopy. Additionally, the applicant must have a strong knowledge on disease mechanisms and pathology to support and guide the interdisciplinary collaboration and projects in the group.

Prior experience with supervising PhD students and being involved in interdisciplinary, collaborative projects is an advantage.

Furthermore, a strong interest in drug delivery and application in the research areas of the CBIO group. We are looking for an independent researcher who works accurately and feels comfortable in a collaborative environment, and who is willing and qualified to take on a larger coordination role within our in vivo activities. Salary and terms of employment 
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
