Senior Manager Mechanical Engineering – take our product development to the next level

Do you want to manage a team of innovative engineers of great importance to maintaining our position as market leaders? Then take your place at the center of the technical development that makes it possible for us to make life sound better for millions of people.

Lead the Mechanical Development Department
We are 19 colleagues who are from different countries and at different stages of our careers, but united in our passion for transforming lives through the power of sound.

In the Mechanical Development Department, we develop technically leading intelligent audio solutions, so they are ready to go to market. At the same time, we sustain the quality of existing products and run long-term technology projects that in time will lead to new products. In short, we drive the innovation that will take GN Hearing into the future.

We work project-based, organized in clusters of 3-4 people with a project manager from outside of our department. Across the clusters, we use each other for peer reviews and brainstorms, and we generally take pride in being helpful and supportive of each other.

Take charge of our daily operations and set the direction
The department always has 3 different development projects going on at a time, and one of your main tasks is to ensure progress by collaborating with the project managers on staffing issues, resolution of technical challenges, etc.

Apart from these projects, we carry out smaller ad hoc tasks that you will be overall responsible for, like revision of our procedures. You will organize the department as needed to solve our tasks and you will facilitate major change processes such as deciding how our team adhere to the European Medical Device Regulation.

You will also cooperate closely with the manager of the Mechanical Development Department in Xiamen, China, to make sure that our tools, procedures and methods for measurements and tests are aligned.

In everything you do, the aim is to move your team forward and challenge the status quo when it makes sense.

”We need you to help us accelerate innovation by working smarter, becoming more efficient and increasing our focus on end-user needs and solutions meeting them. At the same time, you have to ensure the right resources to meet the ambitions of top management and develop your team to become more resilient and ready to support the product and technology development needs of the future,“ explains Director Andreas Schousboe.

As a manager, you moreover:

  • Continuously have 1:1s with team members to ensure their job satisfaction and professional development
  • Recruit and onboard new personnel
  • Carry out day-to-day management of unforeseen events emerging in the different projects
  • Prioritize our resources in an agile set-up with PI planning sessions every 3 months

Experienced people manager with a technical background
As a manager, you enjoy the challenge of meeting the different needs and ideas of colleagues and stakeholders. This also means that you have developed a systematic approach allowing you to not get overwhelmed by working on several tasks at a time.

Finally, you are energized by moving forward and not afraid to change our working processes for the better, making sure that you have the support of your team and other stakeholders.

Professionally we imagine that you:

  • Have a degree in mechanical engineering
  • Have several years of experience with managing engineers working with product development – this does not have to be within medical devices, but of course it would be an advantage
  • Preferably have experience with advanced development tools like 3D CAD, FEM, Moldflow and rapid prototyping
  • Are fluent in English
