Senior Engineer in Green Gases and Hydrogen

We must store our green energy from wind and solar cost-effectively so that we can maintain our security of supply while achieving your goals with the green conversion. Some of the solutions we already have while others haven’t been sufficiently demonstrated yet. The Organization and department
You will be part of the Technology and Innovation department in the Engineering and Construction business unit. You will be joining a growing team of currently 23 committed employees with a broad professional expertise in general engineering disciplines (electrical, mechanical, etc. ), construction technology as well as project management. We are highly client-oriented and provide engineering services to the rest of the Energinet group with focus on the design (e.g. feasibility & techno-economic studies, concept development, FEED), operation, and maintenance of national gas infrastructure. In collaboration with our sister companies, we support the work related to the green energy transition and direct the technical activities towards its achievement.
In the role of senior engineer, you will be responsible for supervising different green-gases design and technical project management activities from concept development to detailed design studies. The reduction of greenhouse gases emissions is a high-priority topic of national importance and we have received the mandate to achieve solutions that will realize the full-decarbonization of the energy system. This is a matter of highly interdisciplinary coordination (including technology, regulations, environment, innovation etc.) and therefore, you should expect to work in close collaboration with experts from other parts of the organization as well as other national and international partners.
Curious and innovative engineer with focus on green gases and hydrogen
We are looking for highly motivated candidates that want to leave their footprint in the path towards a greener society.
You are part of multiple project groups and innovative teams - either as a technical specialist or in a coordinating role as technical project manager. Here you assist to ensure the professional level of the project, and to make decisions based on qualified knowledge and data basis, regardless of whether you work according to traditional or agile principles. Together with our sister companies we advise on the future trajectory to be followed for the conversion of the existing infrastructure towards carbon neutrality.
Your core task is to provide engineering and technical project management support both in relation to new and existing innovative projects, with special focus on hydrogen. At the same time, you will be responsible for establishing new partnerships with external partners (e.g. technical Universities, research centers, technical committees, consultancy companies). These collaborations should revolve around the achievement of project deliverables, whether they are of innovative or traditional nature.
You follow work tasks from concept and feasibility studies to design and implementation, and you contribute to advisory services linked to preparation of technical reports, proposals related to engineering projects and installation of critical equipment.
It is a requirement that you have at least an MSc from relevant engineering education (e.g. Energy, Mechanical, Process/Chemical) with at least 4 years of documented experience (including project management) in working first handed with green gases processing from relevant industries within the chemical, oil & gas, or energy sectors. Relevant PhD education is not a requirement but is weighed positively.
In particular, the ideal candidate should have knowledge and experience in design/operation activities related to CO2 and hydrogen.
Curiosity and motivation to learn and develop knowledge within relevant gas topics that you are not familiar with are also of key importance.
In addition to the points mentioned above, practical familiarity within the following technical areas is highly valued:
- Energy modelling software (e.g. pressure drop calculations, thermodynamic analyses, flow calculations). A list of software and coding languages and level of familiarity should be included in the submitted CV.
- Power-to-X technology (e.g. methanation, electrolysis), CO2 capture technology, green gas process technology (e.g. compressors)
- Green gas design standards and codes.

You are able to find common solutions and can direct your communication to technicians, specialists, suppliers, external partners and authorities. You are able to work independently and thrive on defining and solving tasks yourself and dealing with complex issues. Your positive and engaging attitude contributes to maintaining a positive and healthy work culture. Also, you must thus be able to immerse yourself in subject areas in which you continuously improve and update your skills.
Travel activity to Energinet's offices and facilities, e.g. in Fredericia and Egtved can be expected, just as travel abroad in connection with international work can also occur.
We expect you to be Fluent in English both speaking and writing and fluency in Danish both speaking and writing is highly recommended.
