About the position / Who are we looking for
We are looking for an (experienced) Application Scientist to join our Fresh Dairy Application Department for Customer Support and Competences in Arpajon (FR), south of Paris. We are part of the Global Application organization within our Food Cultures and Enzymes business unit, the largest Business Unit within Chr. Hansen.

With our ambition of 8-10% organic growth, we are expanding our Fresh Dairy Global Application capacity and activities which aims to support new product development and provide technical support worldwide in relation to application of starter cultures, probiotic cultures with clinical documentation and enzymes. The organization consists of 30-some employees organized in 5 teams, spanning ≈8 different nationalities and situated in respectively Hørsholm (DK) and Arpajon (FR).

The Fresh Dairy Customer Support & Competences department plays an essential role in Chr. Hansen supporting our customers with technical requests in the area of Fresh Dairy products. We have a collaborative role shared with various departments R&D, Marketing, Sales and Production. We ensure that the dairy final product has the right characteristics from taste to texture. 

Your responsibilities
As part of the Customer Support French team, your main task will be the customer support in their application projects in a timely and successful manner and interacts directly with them and other stakeholders within the organization. Especially high interaction with Sales department, Application colleagues, Production and Commercial development. 

In addition you will:

• Follow trials at customer site for culture/process validation
• Support Sales: troubleshooting, technical trainings, competences transfer, innovation days…
• Plan, perform and report on trials made in our application technology centre and lab in collaboration with the technicians in the team
• Prepare and conduct presentations on the results obtained in the laboratory and in projects
• Contribute to increase synergistic dairy product application knowledge (from starter cultures to enzymes) and innovative thinking across countries – locally and by participation in networks with colleagues from all over the world

Collaborate with numerous stakeholders inside and outside the organization

Your personal profile
For this position, we request a solid background in food science and technology. We encourage self-driven and experimented candidates that are passionate by bacterial food cultures, production and characterization of fermented milk products. Moreover, candidates will love to be in contact with customer and work transversally

In addition, you

• Hold a MSc background in food/dairy/bio science & technology or equivalent (mandatory)
• Industrial experience within dairy, dietary supplement or pharmaceutical for at least 5 years
• Have excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English (to be developed if needed, English been the company language and our network is worldwide)
• Enjoy working in an international environment and have multicultural understanding
• Are creative, energetic and capable of making things work to ensure progress with a focus on results and quality
• Are able to multitask, have strong integrity but are flexible.
• Are willing to travel often for customer visits and meetings in France or worldwide
• You like customer contact
