Join us as our new Scientist in Product Safety (biochemistry, immunology), Bagsværd
As a scientist in Product Safety, you will be responsible for providing safety guidance to Novozymes’ pipeline projects and customers globally. You will be a part of our head quarter function and collaborate with dedicated colleagues worldwide.
You will be providing advice regarding respiratory allergy and skin sensitization to internal and external stakeholders. In addition, an important responsibility is ensuring the supply and processing of representative test materials for allergy test programs in close collaboration with Novozymes’ medical staff and Occupational Health & Safety. You should be motivated by communication and planning tasks, as this is essential qualities when we deal with cross-industrial hygiene support incl. communication of analytical safety data. You will be responsible for coordinating our polyclonal antibody supply for immunochemical assays. Your job will include assessment of safe use and handling of the enzymes we sell, for the end user as well as in industrial processes.
You will be part of an agile scientists´ team and collaborate closely with our laboratory technicians’ team, and plan and supervise laboratory work within protein chemical and immunochemical analyses. Balancing tasks, being pragmatic, and enjoying working in a global environment is something that gives you energy.
Welcome to Product Safety
We are three departments (~40 people) who share the responsibility for the safety of all of Novozymes’ products. In our department we have specialized in sensitive immunochemical analyses of enzyme samples, which are used to quantify airborne enzymes using ELISA and lateral flow techniques (Magnetic Immuno Chromatographic Technology). With this position we want to strengthen our expertise within respiratory allergy and skin sensitization.
In this role you’ll make an impact by:
- Involvement in antibody and antigen production for allergy test programs (SPT, CAP-test etc.)
- Being the go-to person regarding respiratory allergy and skin sensitization elicited by protein antigens
- Providing safety guidance and application assessments in development projects
To succeed you must:
- Hold a MSc and perhaps a PhD in biology, immunology, biochemistry or similar
- Have interest in and perhaps experience with antibody production
- Have knowledge of and experience within Type 1 allergy
- Have documented experience/strong basis in assay development, immunochemistry and protein chemistry Including protein quantification techniques, e.g. SDS-PAGE, immunochemical techniques for quantification and visualization of antigen-antibody recognition, e.g. ELISA, Western blotting, Ouchterlony and Mancini
- Be a team player, and have excellent communication skills and flair for cross cultural collaboration
- Focus on high quality in own work, and be structured and systematic
- Be flexible and enjoy a global environment collaborating with stakeholders from many different cultures
Location: This job will be located at Bagsværd, Copenhagen and 10-20 travel days annually can be expected.
