The Science Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Scientific System Administration Officer.

Description of directorate/division
Overall management and administration of the DMSC and associated work packages. Including day-to-day operation of DMSC, coordination with respect to external partners: universities, the ministry of Science and others. Coordinate the building of the new DMSC house. Administrational support for the DMSC staff, business and project planning and interfacing to ESS administration on recruitment, procurement, travel planning, HR, and legal issues.
 

Description of main responsibilities
We are currently seeking a Scientific System Administration officer at the Data Management and Software Center placed in Copenhagen (DK). As part of the Data Systems and Technology group you will play a key part in designing and setting up the data center that will store the data produced at the facility, which is currently being constructed in Lund (SE).

A successful applicant will have

  • A strong background in computer, technical or natural sciences (Master or Ph.D.)
  • In-depth experience with design and implementation of high capacity/high performance storage systems
  • Experience with site-to-site synchronisation of stored data 
  • In-depth experience with HA and site-to-site FailOver services
  • Full professional proficiency in English, written as well as oral.
  • Experience of working in an international environment is essential

Duration & Location
The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Copenhagen, Denmark.
