We are looking for a scientific coordinator to play a key role in establishing and running a new Center of Excellence at the Technical University of Denmark.

The Center for Nanophotonics - NanoPhoton - will explore a new paradigm for confining light in extremely small spots in semiconductor nanostructures. Such confinement leads to strong interaction between light and matter with prospects for important scientific breakthroughs. The research addresses the important problem of integrating electronics and photonics, with potential to significantly reduce the energy consumption in computers and information technology.  The scientific fields addressed by NanoPhoton include fundamental theory, device modelling, nanofabrication, and experimental characterization of optical and electronic devices.

The center is enabled by a grant from the Danish National Research Foundation and will be placed at DTU Fotonik, which is internationally recognized for its contributions to research and innovation in photonics. The department has an international staff of highly motivated researchers and teachers and enjoys an informal and lively atmosphere.

The job
You will work in close contact with the center leader, taking care of key issues related to governance, project management, communication and administration. As scientific coordinator you need to thrive in an international, multidisciplinary and highly ambitious environment.  You will be part of the Nanophotonics Section and will interact with all its members and all members of NanoPhoton. You will also be in close collaboration with our administrative support team at DTU Fotonik. It is crucial that you have a thorough understanding of the nature of research and scientific processes. The position will provide you with a strong experience and knowledge in research coordination and organization.

  • Assistance to center leader

Our expectations
We seek a person with background in a scientific field related to NanoPhoton. The ideal candidate has a master or, preferably, a Ph.D. degree in physics, nanotechnology, electrical engineering or related fields. You have excellent communication and people skills and are a true team player. You are excited by research and generation of new knowledge and enjoy seeking for structure in complex settings. You are now more interested in pursuing a coordinator job than a research position. You are good at handling administrative tasks and are good and efficient at writing in English as Danish. Furthermore, you have strong deadline management skills and you have a good grasp of relevant IT tools.
