Senior Research Scientist for acoustic modelling at GN Hearing

Do you want to work with applied research and build knowledge that makes a difference to the millions of people with hearing impairment? And would you like to be part of pushing the boundaries of what is possible to do with our products in a global team of excellent researchers?

We are looking for a researcher to aid us in modelling the acoustic transmissions which is crucial in the creation of optimal solutions for active noise cancellation, occlusion cancellation, own voice perception and feedback cancellation.

Welcome to GN Hearing – and a global team of researchers
Here we make life sound better – we do so through the newest technology so that our hearing solutions can deliver unique and increasingly individualized experiences for our users. Our core focus is on enabling our customers to hear more, do more and be more than they ever thought possible.

Based out of our research center in Copenhagen, you will join a global and multi-disciplinary team of nearly 40 researchers, scientists and engineers based in four locations: Copenhagen (DK), Eindhoven (NL), Minneapolis (US) and Chicago (US).

We mostly meet virtually and thoroughly enjoy autonomy, accountability and openness in the team. We always challenge each other to ensure high-quality research, and we believe our work will help transform our industry.

Create acoustical and structural modelling
As our new senior research scientist, your responsibility will be to model the different transmissions of sound in and around the ear, hearing device and human head. For the models to fulfill their purpose, they need to be verified through measurements and integrated into our simulation framework.

One of the focal points in the research will be to understand users and their surroundings in order to create a simulation as close to reality as possible while also keeping a commercial mindset and apply it in our projects.

Specific tasks include:

  • Acoustical and structural modelling in relation to hearing devices
  • Verification of acoustic models through initiation of measurements
  • Integration of models into a simulation framework

“This is a unique opportunity to work with applied science and research with a true purpose. We build knowledge that firstly helps us create better products, but secondly and equally important contributes to a global knowledge pool,” says Research Manager, Jesper Bünsow Boldt.

Acoustic expert with software engineering skills
With a motivation and a passion for making a difference through your work, you always self-reflect and zoom out to ensure that your work fits the reality. As a person, you are open to professional discussions, feedback and reviews, and you thrive in the interaction with others, though you also prosper when you conduct your own research.

Moreover, we imagine that you:

  • Have a PhD or equal experience within acoustics, signal processing, electrical engineering or software engineering
  • Have unmatched expertise in acoustic modelling
  • Have a substantial understanding of acoustic measurements and software engineering
  • Have insight into and an understanding of transducers
  • Are able to work across disciplines, time zones and locations in a very global team
