Research Electronics specialist/engineer at Microsoft Quantum Copenhagen (Station Q) and the Center for Quantum Devices
Microsoft Quantum Copenhagen (Station Q) is a research center sponsored by Microsoft Research aimed at developing topological quantum information processing hardware. The Center for Quantum Devices is a basic research center supported by the Danish National Research Foundation, comprising materials research, experimental physics, nanoelectronics and condensed matter theory.  
The position 
Microsoft Quantum Copenhagen (Station Q) and the Center for Quantum Devices are looking for an entry/mid-level Research Electronics specialist/engineer. You will be a part of the electronics workshop that designs electronics for experimental quantum computing research.

We have a very broad range of tasks: 

  • analog design 
  • PCB design 
  • microwave engineering 
  • FPGA programming 
  • signal processing 
  • software development 
  • electronics assembly 

The position is open from 1 April 2018 or by arrangement and has a duration of one year. 
The candidate 
The successful candidate should be passionate about electronics and have at a minimum a Masters’s degree in Electronics/Physics. Initially, we expect that the candidate will assist with existing projects (soldering and assembling electronics, making small mechanical designs) and will then later take on his or her own projects. The candidate is expected to be able to deal with several multi-disciplinary tasks at the same time. 
Microsoft Station Q is a large collaborative project between Microsoft and top universities in the USA, Denmark, Netherlands and Australia. The main goal of the project is to build a topological quantum computer. You can read more about it at www.microsoft.com/quantum. ;
The Center for Quantum Devices at the University of Copenhagen (http://qdev.nbi.ku.dk/) comprises a large group of ambitious experimentalists, theorists, engineers and technicians exploring coherent quantum effects in advanced solid-state electronic devices.

Terms of appointment and payment 
Salary, pension and terms of employment are in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Government and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). In addition to the basic salary a monthly contribution to a pension fund is added (17.1% of the salary). The base salary depends seniority, from approximately DKK 25,000/month. A supplement can be negotiated, depending on experience and qualifications.
