Research and Center manager at the Center for Materials Crystallography and the Department of Chemistry 971950

The Center for Materials Crystallography (CMC) and the Department of Chemistry, Aarhus University, is seeking candidates for a permanent academic position (AC/TAP) as research and center manager. The position includes administrative as well as research duties and the expected starting date is July 1st 2018 or as soon as possible after that date. 

The position combines administrative duties with scientific research on projects within materials crystallography and materials chemistry. The candidate will work together with research staff in CMC as well as administrative staff at the AU Center for Integrated Materials Research (iMAT), the Department of Chemistry, iNANO and the Faculty of Science and technology (ST).

You will be involved in the following duties:

  • Daily point of contact for CMC
  • Administration in the form of application writing, reporting and accounting
  • Assistance in purchase of advanced equipment including tender-proposals
  • Meeting organization and support, including organizing workshops etc.
  • Coordination of external relations and research collaborations
  • Project representation and support
  • Support of specific research projects within CMC and in materials chemistry
  • To a minor degree, different administrative duties at the Department of Chemistry
  • Some teaching may also be expected

Apart from the administrative duties, the position also involves engagement in research projects in synthesis and characterization of advanced materials with emphasis on application of synchrotron and neutron diffraction techniques. Overall, there will be a 50:50 division in work load between administrative and research duties, but the load on each assignment will vary over time. The position may also involve a small amount of teaching at all levels in chemistry and nanoscience. The candidate must have a PhD degree in chemistry, crystallography, materials science, nanoscience or similar. Furthermore, the candidate is required to have a strong background in materials research with broad expertise in materials synthesis as well as crystallography including synchrotron X-ray and/or neutron diffraction.
