Are you interested in robots, drones, and information technology and like to work in an international environment then this job could be something for you? Then the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering invites applications for a 7-month research assistant position in drones and software communication technology.

Expected start date and duration of employment
The expected start date is March 1st, 2023 or as soon possible. This is a fixed-term position to end on August 31, 2023.

Job description
Your job will be to support our drone activities at the University and through the collaborative European H2020 research & innovation project Drones4Safety. The project addresses the use of autonomous drones for inspection of civil infrastructure such as bridges and railways. The research concerns robotic software design and communication aspects and involves laboratory work with drone testing. We are studying mechanisms and communication protocols needed to allow drones to cooperate autonomously.

This work will be carried out as a joint effort with younger researchers in the research group and with graduate students making projects related to the research topic.

Qualifications
The qualified candidate will have a master’s degree in electrical and computer engineering, computer science, or similar. Knowledge and experience with programming in Python or C++, Linux operating system, and communication technology is needed. Good English reading and writing skills is required.

Deadline
Applications must be received no later than January 6.  Applications will be evaluated as they are submitted.

Previously submitted applications will be taken into consideration unless they are withdrawn.

Application procedure
Short-listing is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Formalities and salary range
Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
