R&D User Insights Engineer

Active involvement – from conceptual design to product validation
As R&D User Insights Engineer, you are a vital player in module development and product development projects as you may be involved in all aspects of the innovation process – from early conceptual design to the product validation.
User driven innovation is in Ambu’s DNA, which means that you will participate in the interaction with doctors, customers and users of the products as a natural part of the innovation process.
Your main responsibilities are to:
- Participate in the early development phase of our endoscope product modules and participate in development projects as user insight/research engineer
- Identify user needs in the early development phase where interaction with key opinion leaders, doctors and other experts worldwide is crucial in order to fulfil the ambitious innovation targets
- Conduct user test/formative test of concepts and prototypes together with users of the devices
- Concept development of ground-breaking products within existing or new clinical and technological areas for Ambu.
- Module and product design, where you will be involved in the process of transforming user understanding into modules and product design, securing a robust and reliable final product that fulfills the user needs
- Documentation and testing according to FDA and ISO requirements.
Your contact base is broad, and you will collaborate with Ambu’s global organisation, all departments involved in product development projects and externally with users, knowledge centers and suppliers.
Ideally, you hold an educational background within design & innovation, mechanical engineering or similar.
You are experienced in developing medical devices and product design.
You are used to interview users, run explorative tests, analyze behavior, understand the user needs and work structured with data through a contextual design practice. Design thinking and design psychology might not be unfamiliar words to you, and you are familiar with translating user needs into functional and robust design solutions. Preferably, you have experience with CAD modelling and mechanical design.
Most likely, you come from a similar job within the medical device industry or in a consultancy that deals with the medical device field.
As a person you are pro-active, with high drive, committed and have a strong sense of responsibility for your own tasks. You are thorough and quality-minded; you have great interpersonal skills and have a good situational awareness making you a great team-player in global teams. You are a “do’er” and prefer to act on rather than theorise about problems.
Since we are a global company, you will be involved in cross-cultural collaboration. Consequently, it is a requirement that you are fluent in English and can communicate efficiently.
