Designing the future

As R&D Manager for our mechanical team at Universal Robots, you will be responsible for managing a high-performance mechanical developing team in the R&D Hardware organization. You will lead and take the overall responsibility of the Mechanical team including deliveries working cross-functionally with other Managers within all aspects of Development.

Passion and perfection
With direct reference to the Vice President, R&D, you will be responsible for an agile team consisting of highly skilled mechanical engineers. In this position, you will play a central role in a high-performance department consisting of more than 110 brilliant and talented engineers with many different nationalities. Your team will be a combination of newly educated engineers and highly skilled and experienced team members. 

Responsibilities:

  • Managing professional, highly skilled R&D staff in an agile environment
  • Develop strategy to constantly optimize and improve development methods, processes and tools 
  • Prioritize and set goals for the team's, ensure realistic and predictable delivery dates and progress 
  • Manage in accordance with agile methodologies and empower the team to deliver (Scrum)
  • Communicate status and progress to stakeholders in the organization
  • Resource and capacity planning
  • Budget for department and bigger projects

Tasks:

  • Close cooperation in personnel-related tasks with other R&D Managers and the R&D VP.
  • Working closely with HR, you will manage duties like:
  • Recruitment
  • Onboarding of new employees, ensuring that everyone has the right tools available and understands the policies and procedures
  • Development, retention and motivation
  • Education Planning
  • Salary development and implementation of salary negotiations
  • Settlement, including participation in exit interviews

Professional experience:

  • +5 years of experience as a successful staff manager of mechanical specialists and within product development
  • Experience with design specifications, e.g. FMEA, DFM, DFA, WCA
  • Experience with design philosophies like Robust Design and System Engineering 
  • Worked with Mechanical development processes
  • Relevant education within management
  • Preferably worked with Scrum
  • English (oral and written) at negotiation level, Danish language is an advantage, not mandatory
