R&D Engineers for retrofitting new technology

At MAN Energy Solutions Copenhagen, we develop propulsion engines and solutions for the global merchant vessel fleet that move 90% of the world’s cargo. We work with leading engine technology, including our low-carbon dual fuel engines which are enabling a carbon neutral transition for ship transport.
You will play an important role in:
Our tasks are within developing and implementing the actual engine combustion process, measure and adjust to the results of the theory, and deliver the environmental certification of the engine. An example of a task for the team could be to develop a solution for converting an existing engine, which can operate on diesel and heavy fuel, to an engine which can also operate on Methanol.
The work will be both in the office in Copenhagen, on-board vessels worldwide, at our research facility in Copenhagen and on engines at our licensees test beds in South Korea, Japan and China. Travelling of up to 90 days per year may be expected for some of the job-roles, and we offer good flexibility for the travelling employee to support a good work-life balance.
Welcome to our R&D department
We are now expanding our activities, and we are building a new team in our R&D department within the fields of engine emission and combustion optimization, when retrofitting new technology to existing engines in service. We participate from the first idea of a new retrofit product, through developing the solutions, to actual delivery to the customer. For this team, we need a number of new colleagues with tasks within engine combustion performance optimization and testing, emission testing and environmental certification.

We imagine that you would hold a technical degree e.g. within mechanics, chemistry, environment, electricity, marine or quality, and you are a team-player that enjoys working in a true global context with all sorts of tasks from start-up phase to delivery of the product.
How do we work?
Deep technical knowledge about our engines are not publicly available, so the first period of the employment revolves around training in how our engines operates, the many subsystems that are crucial for its function, our work procedures etc. As this is a new team with also new areas of responsibilities, the work and the training will both be within already established company competences, but we must also develop new competences and new ways of working.
