Now more than ever, safe and high-quality foods are top priority. To us, this means growth on a global scale. In FOSS, we’re at the frontline of innovation, delivering analytical data of the highest quality to customers from multiple industries. In a global world with a growing population, there is an ever-increasing demand for safer food, production that is more efficient and less food waste. As a global market leader, we have the expertise to help companies to ensure that.

Join our R&D department
We are looking for two ambitious and highly skilled R&D engineers or physicists to drive the development of future analytical instruments for food analysis.

Your responsibility will be to develop and implement current and future optical hardware platforms - taking the technology from the lab environment to full-scale production. The responsibility includes having an overview of the complete measuring system in an instrument project where you will be a central team member. This means that you must obtain complete and detailed knowledge of the path from sample to finished result and the interfaces to other parts of the instrument. Your tasks will span experimental work and measurements, simulations and design in close collaboration with data scientists, mechanical and electrical engineers, software development and other departments outside R&D. Key to succeeding in development projects is the ability to plan, coordinate and communicate results to the project members and stakeholders.

You will be become part of the Spectroscopy or Biotechnology group in the Technology part of the R&D department. The teams are responsible for innovation, development and support of the measuring systems of all FOSS’ product based on either FT-IR, NIR, X-ray, imaging technology or biotechnological products, in particularly flow cytometry-based solutions.

Together, the teams hold a high level of experience and competence within optics, physics, electronics, biochemistry and microbiology. We strive to deliver solutions performing to the edge the technology with world leading relation between performance, cost, footprint and reliability.

About you
You have a M.Sc. degree in engineering, physics or similar and most likely a Ph.D. You have proven results working with experimental optics and spectroscopy, and preferably experience with a number of the following topics:

  • Pulsed lasers and LIBS spectroscopy (Spectroscopy)
  • Microfluidics or fluorescence detection (Biotechnology)
  • Optical detector systems including electronics.
  • Imaging optics and detectors.
  • Optical simulations in e.g. Zemax.
  • Data analysis in e.g. MatLab.

People describe you as structured, innovative and self-driven, yet you value a strong team and the effort to share knowledge. Your record of accomplishment shows an excellent ability to understand complex systems and to work systematically with troubleshooting incl. designing and performing experiments. Further, you have a curious mind, thrive on challenges and can integrate the work from many engineering disciplines. If you recognize yourself in the above description, we look forward to hearing from you!

We offer
We offer a challenging job in an international, dynamic and innovative organization. We are market leaders within our field and very proud of the results we deliver. Innovation is the foundation for FOSS´ success and we therefore have a strong focus on R&D. You will be a member of a team where we respect one another, work closely together and apply each other´s competences in the daily work. We make room for personal improvements and continuously strive at optimizing our work processes.
