If you bring solid knowledge within mechanical engineering, leadership skills and true passion for technology, we have just the right career opportunity for you. At Weibel, you join a family owned technology company. We share an uncompromised fascination by technology and today this is the most dominant part of our DNA. As such, you get the opportunity to unfold all of your skills in the development of state-of-the-art radar products – and you do it surrounded by highly skilled, dedicated and open-minded colleagues.
World-class mechanical innovation and motivating people management
As R&D Engineering Manager, your overall focus is to deliver world-class mechanical innovation in the development of the next generations of Weibel radars. You do so in close collaboration with the Head of R&D, 4 other Engineering Managers, Project Managers and your team of currently 9 Mechanical Engineers. Your primary tasks are to:
- Lead, motivate, inspire and develop your team of Mechanical Engineers
- Manage the development of mechanical solutions for the Weibel radar systems
- Contribute to on-going development of skills, competencies and tools within the engineering group
- Lead the evaluation of new ideas, products and processes within mechanical engineering
- Ensure good and positive communication with our in-house machine shop and production lines
You refer to the VP of R&D in an organizational setting where we have divided the R&D department into five teams each headed by an Engineering Manager: Electronic hardware, microwave, mechanics and 2 software groups.
Solid knowledge within mechanical engineering and leadership skills
You have a Master’s degree within mechanical engineering or similar. Your career has provided you with at least 5 years’ hands-on experience within innovative mechanical design and analyses, including common CAD tools.
You have experience as people manager and you bring a leadership toolbox that enables you to motivate, inspire and develop a high performance team. Your knowledge covers the majority or all of the following:
- High precision and rigid constructions
- Vibration and shock
- Corrosion/surface coating
- Composite materials
- Hydraulics, bearings, gears and servo drives
To succeed, you must have a solid overview and be able to prioritize resources surrounded by multiple tasks and deadlines. You must be strong at collaboration based on mutual respect and a genuine will to create results as a united team across departments. This includes top management, sales and production and it takes some stamina as well as the ability to deliver clear-cut answers to e.g. project status.
About the R&D department
