World-class mechanical innovation and motivating people management 
As R&D Engineering Manager your overall focus is to deliver world-class mechanical innovation in the development of the next generations of Weibel radars. You do so in close collaboration with the Head of R&D, 3 other Engineering Managers, Project Managers and your team of currently 4 Mechanical Engineers.

Your primary tasks are to:   

  • Lead, motivate, inspire and develop your team of Mechanical Engineers 
  • Manage the development of mechanical solutions for the Weibel radar systems 
  • Lead the evaluation of new ideas, products and processes within mechanical engineering  
  • Contribute to on-going development of skills, competencies and tools within the engineering group 
  • Ensure good and positive communication with our in-house machine shop and production lines  

You refer to the Head of R&D in a new organizational setting where we have divided the R&D department into four teams each headed by an Engineering Manager: Electronic hardware, microwave, mechanics and software (two groups).  
 
Solid knowledge within mechanical engineering and leadership skills 
You have a Master’s degree within mechanical engineering or similar. Your career has provided you with at least 5 years’ hands-on experience within innovative mechanical design and analyses, including common CAD tools. Additionally, you have experience as people manager and you bring a leadership toolbox that enables you to motivate, inspire and develop a high performance team.

Your knowledge covers the majority or all of the following:   

  • High precision and rigid constructions 
  • Vibration and shock 
  • Thermal/cooling 
  • Corrosion/surface coating 
  • Composite materials 
  • Hydraulics, bearings, gears and servo drives  

To succeed, you must have a solid overview and be able to prioritize resources surrounded by multiple tasks and deadlines. You must be strong at collaboration based on mutual respect and a genuine will to create results as a united team across departments. This includes top management, sales and production and it takes some stamina as well as the ability to deliver clear-cut answers to e.g. project status. 
 
About the R&D department 
You will join approx. 35 Engineers in the R&D department. We are all situated in the same open office space at the Weibel headquarters in Allerød north of Copenhagen. An open dialogue, helpfulness and a common will to move things forward characterize our environment.
