Design and Analysis – Combustion Chamber Parts

What are you going to do?
As our new colleague you will be working with worldwide leading specialists for large engines. Your focus will be:

• Main task is to use, support and develop in-house software used within the group. Data treatment and programs for pre-processing of FE models are main focus but also analysis of data from engines in service using a broad variety of different methods will be part of daily work.
• The knowledge derived is used for development, analysis and design of combustion chamber components including design of tests to further expand our common knowledge base.
• Methods and other findings are shared within the company on many different levels, from pure instructions to enthusiastic theoretical discussions.
•  Travelling activities are a vital part of the job, both to inspect engines under construction, engines in worldwide operation but also to promote interpersonal relations with engine builders and component suppliers mainly in the far east.

Who are you?
We imagine that you have the following qualifications:

• Theoretical well founded in mechanical engineering analysis, including FEM and/or CFD
• Programming skills of Python or similar is required and knowledge of ML is an advantage
• B.Sc., M.Sc. or Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or similar

• Communication skills, both writing reports and presentation techniques
• Genuine interest in engine technology
• Innovative mind-set and interest for mechanical design with a practical and target oriented approach
• Connecting to other people and other cultures are natural for you

How is your new team/area of business?
In our R&D department at MAN Energy Solutions we seek a research engineer, with focus on development and testing of new components as well as analysis techniques relating to combustion chamber design.

Our overall R&D focus is to reduce exhaust emissions and increase fuel efficiency in our pursuit of net zero while reducing first cost. These overall tasks are challenging the design of the combustion chamber components in respect to function, structural integrity and tribology performance.

You will receive tailor made training for the job meaning that both applicants with professional experience as well as fresh graduates will be considered.
