In this newly established and challenging position, you will help set the pace for future innovation and ensure the knowledge and insight needed to develop the product of the future. Your focus will be on technology development within the area of Anesthesia so that our anaesthesia products in the future will be at the forefront of innovation and secure the future success of Ambu in the interest of our users.

You will be part of an effective innovation culture with a tradition for fast completion of projects, which means that there will be a visible link between your results and Ambu’s growth. You will be a member of the Front-end and Technology development, Anesthesia and Patient monitoring team that focuses on products within Anesthesia, Neurology, Cardiology as well as Emergency Care & Training. Your focus will be on technology development for the future portfolio within Anesthesia and Emergency Care & Training. Our Global Innovation team consists of over 200 people and is located at our headquarters in Ballerup. We focus on developing new products and improving and maintaining our current products, combining technologies in new and innovative ways. This puts high demands on your skills and requires broad experience
 
Active involvement – from conceptual design to product validation
As R&D Engineer, you are a vital player in product development projects as you are involved in all aspects of the innovation process – from the conceptual design to the product validation.

User driven innovation is in Ambu’s DNA which means that you will participate in the interaction with doctors, customers and users of the products as a natural part of the innovation process.

Your main responsibilities are:

  • To participate in and help drive Technology tracks within the field of Anesthesia products
  • To identify user needs and predict future technology movement through interaction with key opinion leaders, doctors and other experts worldwide 
  • Build up insight into ESG goals and how Ambu can continously improve the sustainability and eco-friendliness of our products, without compromising patient safety or medical professional workflow
  • Concept development of ground-breaking products within anesthesiology
  • Deep insight into the product area and the technologies that could play a role in the future development of those product areas
  • Identification of new potential product areas for Ambu 
  • Identification, coordination and collaboration of and with external partners, such as reasearch facilities, consultancies and potentially other companies on technology development and insight
  • Stakeholder management and coordination across various in-house functions including, but not limited to Marketing, Clinical, Production, Procurement 

Your contact base is broad, and you will collaborate with Ambu’s global organisation, all departments involved in product development projects and externally with users, knowledge centers and suppliers.

Experienced product development engineer
Ideally, you hold an educational background within material sciences, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering or similar.

You have at least 5 years of experience of product development, preferably within medical devices. You are curious and passionate about techonology development and pushing the boundaries of what is possible, particularly within materials and sustainability.

You have solid experience with plastic and mechanical construction. Most likely, you are employed in a similar job within the medical device industry or in a consultancy that deals with the medical device field.

As a person you are self-motivated, committed and have a strong sense of responsibility towards your work. You are thorough and detail-oriented but at the same time you have great interpersonal skills and have a sense of the situation, which makes you thrive in global teams. You are a "do'er" and prefer to act on rather than theorize about problems.

Since we are a global company, you will be involved in cross-cultural collaboration. Consequently, it is a requirement that you are fluent in English and that you are able to communicate efficiently. Lastly, you thrive in a position that gives you the opportunity to travel approximately 20-30 days a year.
