The R&D activities based in Aalborg in close cooperation with the team in Nijmegen (Holland), take care of development, marketing, manufacturing and service of the Inert Gas Systems and Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems.

Key tasks and responsibilities
It is the task of the R&D Engineer to safeguard the long term product competitiveness and company technology leadership by developing, testing and introducing high level techniques and technologies in the field of Exhaust Gas Cleaning and Inert Gas Generation.

The main tasks in the position are:
Developing and demonstrating the proof of principle for new technologies by simulating and/or testing in our local test center and onboard of ships;

  • Following competitors and protect IPR (patents)
  • Recording, documenting and reporting ideas and results
  • Form design-procedures and guidelines for Exhaust Gas Cleaning equipment, including ensuring possible patents on the new products
  • Supporting the TTM (time to market) process for new products
  • Ad hoc participation and project management in various R&D activities
  • Acting as a consultant in his expertise for the internal organization
  • Delivering basic process design and calculation tools as input for system development and design

Qualifications & experience

  • Fundamental knowledge on technologies and techniques in the field of gas cleaning and/or emission abatement
  • High level on physical and chemical engineering principles (two phase mass transfer, chemical kinetics, chemical thermodynamics, physical chemistry)
  • Knowledge on water chemistry and water purification technology
  • Up to date knowledge of simulation (MATLAB, FEM, CFD, rapid prototyping) and testing methods
  • MSc or PhD in chemical-, process- or mechanical engineering
  • Preferable of 3 to 5 years relevant experience
  • Some experience within ship design and mechanical engineering
