At Oticon, we are at the forefront of the latest technology, constantly working to improve hearing solutions for our users in order to strengthen and develop our business. We have recently revealed our new groundbreaking Velox platform for our next generation hearing aids, called Opn. We are proud of this achievement and are not afraid of calling it a paradigm shift in hearing care.

You can be a part of the success by joining our international R&D team in Denmark as a “R&D Hardware Developer”, and support us in bringing our leading hearing aid products to the market. You will contribute to strengthening our capabilities within hearing aid design. Furthermore, you will be part of a dynamic environment built on trust and openness, where you will find a strong will to win.

The area
You will be a part of a growing international company with many opportunities for professional and personal development. In the Hardware function, we have been dedicated and worked hard in order to deliver the hardware foundation for the Velox platform, but we will not rest here. We are already looking into how we can further optimize our technology, and this is why we are looking for an R&D Hardware Developer, who can strengthen our R&D Hearing Instrument Amplifiers and Connectivity devices group. This group consists of more than 45 highly dedicated and experienced engineers. The group is responsible for developing the electronics part of Oticon hearing aids and connectivity devices, using generic platform components and solutions.

The job
In your role as R&D Hardware Developer you will be involved in all steps from initial product specification to handover for mass-production. You will get a chance to design electronics platforms against challenging requirements, with assistance from experienced colleagues, advanced CAD-tools and modern lab-facilities.

Oticon Hearing Instruments are based on Oticon’s own, in-house developed, IC’s. The task of our group is to integrate those IC’s along with Bluetooth antenna, nEARlink antenna and Tele Coil to create a state of the art product. Designing small size products with state of the art performance is the key driver for success and the limited space and high integration makes this a very challenging task.

To strengthen our team, we expect you to have broad electronical skills and the desire of working within the area of hearing solutions. You must be able to work within your own technical area but also be able to maintain a good overview and tie things together within a higher System Design level. You will be involved in cross-organizational activities, with several interfaces and stakeholders; hence, you must enjoy working with people outside your own technical domain. It will furthermore be an advantage if you have:

  • Knowledge within the Sensor area (IR-detector, accelerometer, magnetic switch, etc.)
  • Work experience with Audio
  • Knowledge within the area of Switch Mode power supplies

You will be mainly responsible for:

  • Integration of Oticon’s own IC’s, especially the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) transceiver
  • Inductive coupling (Tele coil, nEARlink)
  • Conducting measurements in the lab
  • Verification of electrical performance against requirements, e.g. distortion, noise, EMC, ESD etc. in relevant use cases
  • Interface to Oticon organization as Software, Mechanical Design and Production
  • Documentation of own work by means of e.g. design specifications, test specifications, measurement reports

We expect you will be able to drive activities across the organization by combining your skills, your outgoing and let's-fix-it mindset and hereby contribute to our next generation of market leading products.

Your qualifications
We expect you to hold an M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Electronics Engineering. You might be newly graduated or have several years of experience as an Electronics Developer and thrive in an environment with a high pace where two days are rarely alike. You enjoy working with professional colleagues who will continuously challenge you to develop.

You furthermore show a high level of personal drive to ensure your tasks are in progress and you take an analytical and systematic approach to complex problem solving - which you find exciting and rewarding. You know how to work according to established quality processes and have a good documentation practice, as we are a regulated company. Finally yet importantly, you are fluent in English both written and spoken, as it is our company language.
